Side view Mirrors from Classic Industries

I contacted Classic industries and explained to them all the issues with the mirrors, gaskets, and screws. They agreed not only to a refund but to pay for return shipping as well. When they asked what shape the mirrors were in, can we restock them, I asked why the hell would you want to restock something that is not correct for the application you are advertising. They did not have an answer for that.

@ClassicIndustries1 Can you please take care of our FBBO member... THANKS!

Good Morning FBBO members,

Sorry to hear that there are issues with this product.
It seems like the original poster was taken care of, his money refunded and parts were picked up at our expense.
So, we will review this post thoroughly, pull some parts from stock and determine what we can do to correct the issue.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

It seems like you have two issues. One, the product is listed for years/models that it will not fit. And two, for the years/models that it will fit, the hardware is inadequate. In any event, it's a good sign that a company rep has the guts to post on here and reply directly to the issue.

While I am sure that some of the complaints that they receive are due to customer error (like the 73-74 Charger headlamp bezels which have to be installed in a very specific manner), in this case it's a valid issue. Hopefully they will correct the listing and upgrade the hardware.

$40.00 for a pair of mirror gaskets??? WTF!!!

Classic Industries is rearing it's ugly head towards being more like Year One. A mega establishment caring less & less about their customers and care more about volume. Keep stocking crappy items knowing that they're faulty but hoping that only a small % of customers squeak vs the ones that don't.

You're right DMT is a great company and here's their gaskets at $10.00 a pair.

Hello everyone at FBBO.
Just wanted to follow up to let you all know that we are working on this issue presently. We value our customers greatly and strive to be the best supplier we can be.
We will always do our best to make things right. People can order with confidence knowing that we offer a 100% Satisfaction or Your Money Back Guarantee!

Classic Industries also offers these mirror gaskets that one member mentioned.
At the time of this posting, these gaskets are priced at $9.99 pair on our website.
We do our best to ensure that our prices are very competitive, but on the chance that we are higher on an item, we offer a Price Match Guarantee.

Feedback from our customers is very valuable. Classic Industries currently carries hundreds of thousands of products from thousands of different suppliers.
We work every day to ensure that we are offering the very best products that the industry produces (at the right prices) and that we have most popular items that our customers might need... in stock, for your convenience.
Whenever we get feedback, we always investigate to determine if there is anything we can do differently to improve either our service, our selection, the price, or quality, etc..
And, we encourage people to contact us and let us know whenever there is room for improvement in a product, so we can provide our suppliers with the knowledge they need to correct any known issues.

In the case of these mirrors, we have investigated the issue and have determined what we can do to correct the problems that the OP was experiencing.
Armed with this new information gained from the feedback here at FBBO, we will be taking the following steps to enhance the customer experience.
Effective immediately, we will remove any remaining inventory from stock and will return it to the vendor with our recommendations for correcting the issue.
In the meantime, we will be changing suppliers, and this should correct the issue that the OP had with the mirror not having enough adjustment to the left for a 1973-74 B-Body. We have identified the proper screws, and base gasket and will be adding them to each mirror set as well.

We appreciate the feedback we have received from everyone at FBBO, please let us know if there is anything else we can do.

I have reached out to the OP through a private message here at FBBO to determine if I can be of further assistance to him as a product specialist. I have not yet heard back from him.
Nevertheless, we are working on getting the issues corrected. Thanks to FBBO.

May I kindly suggest to any other vendors that what you are reading above is exactly how to respond to customer feedback.

Kudos to Classic Industries.

Thanks for being kind enough to respond in here to the FBBO community about this issue. It will go a long way (to me at least) in doing future business.

That response from Classic was so on the money that I am still pinching myself to make sure I was not dreaming.

Excellent, why I invited Classics to the "party" and the kind of response we could only hope that we'd get from some other Vendors that appear to just be placaters.

This is what customer service should be, you not only take care of the customer's immediate issue, which they have done, but also find the root of the problem and work towards a resolution so others do not experience the same issue. I want to thank Classic Industries for their handling of this issue. This is exactly the type of issue that would have made me avoid Classic Industries for future purchases, but after their response, I will surely continue to use them.

Again, Thanks Classic for a spot on response.

FYI, our cars factory side view mirrors are not symmetric. We did some measuring of a factory set (off the car and on the car) and a reproduction set from another vendor and found the following issue. The original factory set sits at 70 degrees on the driver side and 60 degrees on the passenger side, this was measured on the bench and on the car. The reproduction set has both mirrors sitting at 60 degrees, which is a problem when this angel is on the driver side, the line of site will hit the side of the car instead of what is behind it. The passenger side is fine. The difference in angels and why the mirror mounting angels is different is due to the driver position offset. If the driver sat in the middle of the car, then both mirrors would be mounted at the same angel. Not sure if this is the same issue with mirrors from Classic however, I believe the mirrors we checked are the same source as those from Classic. Apparently who ever made these used the passenger side mirror to make an inverse mold or stamp or what ever to make the drivers side, and this is wrong.

yeap, diff between 71/72 and 73/74 but just as far I know for B bodies. E bodies are 71/74 the same. 70s are diff monster, being more narrowed on outer ends AND 70s E use the riveted nuts inserts. Then B bodies got the backing plate on both kind.

the diff betwen 71/72 and 73/74 B is the pedestal shape to acomodatte the diff screws provisions

and of course the selftaping screws are wrong for this, they must be machined with small oval head.

these are the ones I got and worked PERFECT with my stock 73/74 backing plate.

For what its worth I've had a problem with classic ind'.. which to be fair they did resolve ...after a time. I then went to " 521 restorations" with a few questions re his stock / products etc. I messaged him on a Sunday.. he replied the same day. Now for me I have to put faith into my transactions as shipping / descriptions/ quality are all factors and it's very hard and costly for me to return items. Rest assured Jeff over at " 521 " is a genuine man of his word and true gentleman. Weve all been there and like a bargain mate but these days I'd rather pay a bit extra as my cheap mistakes usually cost ...

Yes, Jeff is great, he got involved in this issue with me as well. He is working with the manufacturer to get this issue corrected with the mirrors.

Since the O.P. was about mirrors I've got a question about the drivers side remote mounting position. I just happened to remove the mirror today to see I could do something to keep the glass inside a little more solid and when I pulled it out there was a remote cable attached but never installed. Any pics. would be much appreciated. Maybe I should ask where does the remote knob mount inside the car. Thanks, Don

Just came across this thread, bought a set for my 72 Charger, agreed gaskets are useless and the screws are definitely useless.
Think I will try and install them on my doors tonight.

In case you can't tell the repro is on the left; my original on the right has a bad replacement mirror over top of the original cracked mirror.

Let us know how they fit and pictures.

Just took some quick pics on the passenger side. Used my original screws and gaskets (not sure about my gaskets working). Fit perfectly, the holes did line up.
