And two more prying questions:
How old were you?
Did you pass the first time?

For me, I passed as a 16 year-old driving my parent's new '71 383 Road Runner automatic in Los Gatos, California.

Passed, first try, in a 1952 Studebaker Champion, in 1978. Wish I still had that car...

failed 2 times then used a 4 wheel drive truck 20 inch lift kit the day I did the test, never driven the truck till the day of the test. 17

I took my test in a 58 Plymouth station wagon, flathead 6, three on the tree, no power steering and in the boro of Queens. I was only worried about stalling it. Luckily I passed 1st time around. In NYC you couldn't drive till you were 18, but I took the road test at 16 and received a Junior License, which had so many limitations I wondered if it was worth it. That car went to L.A. twice from N.Y. and probably had about 90,000 miles when I took the test.

1978 El Dorado. Last of the big ones. Restored it for my mother about 8 years ago. She’s gone now, but the car and the memories live on.

My dad took me to the local sheriff's department at lunch time for my driving test but, the officer at the desk told us he didn't have the manpower at the time to test me. He said to my dad "Can he drive?" To which dad says "Yea he can drive" and so I never took a driving test and still got a license!

1967 VW Beetle. Savannah beige. Pennsylvania State Trooper shoulder to shoulder. He may have been 6’4. Passed. Should have flunked me just for the length of my hair.
Allentown.

1969 Fury II. Wrote my 365, passed and then asked if I could take my drivers test now. Guy said "I needed to practice for a couple of weeks" and I said but how am I going to get my Mom's car home then??? Test it was, passed on my 16th Birthday. Had been driving since 13, every Tuesday night when Mom and Dad went bowling....

A few weeks past my 16th birthday, passed first time. High school driving school car, a brand new '74 Nova, six cyl. three on the tree.

Passed at 16, in 1963 on my 16th Birthday. 1952 Buick Special 2 door sedan, straight 8, dynaflow, manual steering and brakes. They made me parallel park that sucker.
