I found this shot from the set with a partial view of the passenger side fan. I'll have to do some digging to see if I can find a match.
Something I've never noticed about this photo is the hood. Hero car #1 (thick three spoke steering wheel) that was sold on ebay by Ted Vernon has a 1973 steel hood with a glass scoop. The scoop is blind and the hood isn't cut. My car has a molded fiberglass hood crudely panel-bonded to a steel frame with no hood hinge springs, the same as the hood in this photo.
Now, hero car #2 (thin three spoke wheel) which Matt Nix kept at the end of the series seemed to have a 74 hood on it, as it didn't have any vents. It could have a molded glass hood, same as mine.
The problem is that the car in this photo looks to be Hero Car #1 and not #2. There are too many details under the hood that match the photos from the ebay auction and the screen grabs. AFAIK we never saw under the hood of Car #2, but I doubt they would have bothered to make every detail identical, down to the way the harness is run.
It's possible that my hood was used for the damage shots (the hood takes a few bullets over the run on the series), and was swapped onto Car #1 for just such a scene. I'll have to compare the blobs of panel bond between my hood and the one in the photo.
I'd love to know who actually worked on these cars. I've contacted Ted Vernon in the past but never got a response. I know he supplied a lot of vehicles for the show but I don't know if they would have used his shop for repairs as well.

It's still in storage. I bought another house right after I bought the Charger so it's been on the back burner but I've been collecting parts where I can.
I have a 73 Satellite sedan that I am cutting up over the next month or so and then I have to get a new floor poured in the garage. Then I can finally get it out of storage and blow it apart so I can see what metal work it needs.
From what I saw when we pulled it off the trailer there weren't any frame issues, but the floors and trunk had some pop rivet patches and it'll need a roof skin. The quarters have mud in them but if the work is still holding since 2011 (or earlier, the car was photographed on set while filming the Season 5 episode "Dead to Rights") then I will probably call it a good repair and leave them alone.
I'll be doing a lot of component restoration over the winter so the K, suspension, etc are all ready to bolt in once the body is done. I am going with the 360 and I have about 90% of what I need to dress that out, and just about everything for the trans outside of a rebuild.
I haven't made a decision on the hood yet, I've been rewatching the series again and it looks like they used a glass hood for a damage scene in Season 3 (on hero car #2) so it's very possible that I inherited that hood. I wouldn't trust it on the road so I either have to find a steel hood or buy a glass bolt-on hood. I already have a scoop if I go the steel hood route. As I said, I'd really like to know what Hero Car #1 ended the show with.
Barring any major problems I'd say a year until it starts going back together and two until it's on the road. I'll post photos in the restoration forum once it gets going.
I would hold them for her!!

Her dress is lower on her left shoulder and the camera angle probably ads to the effect of them looking crooked too.....but like mentioned, you won't notice once your face is buried in them.

First couple episodes are a little slow but once it gets going you'll be hooked. Seasons 2-3 are great television. It got dark in S6/S7 but still good. Campbell was awesome in it.

I always find it amusing that under cover cops, detectives, private investigators, secret agents, etc usually get portrayed diving the least inconspicuous cars.

When I installed the Sixpack hood scoop on my Charger convertible, I cut the hood and installed it from the underside with rivets. I have had only very minor cracks verses fiberglass scoops that I have seen attached on top of a steel hood. The scoop on my car has been on it since 1999.

That's actually semi-addressed in the show and they do swap out vehicles when it makes sense to do so.

I'm pretty sure the hood in this picture is now on my car. I looked at it yesterday and it has a big yellow blotch of resin or panel bond in the same location and it also has a factory decal still stuck to the steel bracing. I didn't see any obvious repairs to the glass immediately in front of the scoop (where one episode showed damage), but the yellow patch might line up with other on screen damage.
