roadrunner fender tag decoding

unfortunately I do not it Got a crazy red diamond interior in the 80s. Just didnt know if the black stripe was hood treatment or the pin stripes on the side Ive been told both ways. just looking for clarification.
thanks for the help!

Properly laid out Lynch Road tag, with no bend as they were hung in the windshield frame during paint and not screwed in place and bent up like other car lines. I am suspect as to no inspection stamps though... so maybe someone had it reproduced and tucked the original away or it was lost and this tag done from a build sheet.... or the inspectors were on lunch break! lol

...or there was a second tag with the inspection punch?

THIS TAG HAD ORIG F8 GREEN PAINT AND THE CAR WAS BLACK, IT WAS PAINTED BLACK IN THE LATE 70S WHEN IT WAS RACED.

welcome to FBBO

everyone has pretty much covered it

you can try www.MyMopar.com (in tools) or www.AllPar.com
both have (or use to anyway) decoders

good luck, sounds like a nice car

A little more research. 7x is the black single painted-on stripe on the side, longitudinal. (V)6? would be the vinyl double stripe, (v)7? is single painted on. V was the location on the broadcast sheet, so that digit didn't appear on the tag, 6 or 7 determined which stripe, ?was color, red white blue black etc.

I've never seen a tag without at least one inspector stamp.

They exist to varying degrees across years and plants.

Inspection stamps for some years and plants are very common but not all legitimate tags have an inspection stamp.

Welcome. Very nice 66, wouldn’t mind seeing pictures of your RR as a work in progress, and your brother’s A12. BTW my wife went to grade school in Selma. Congrats on the new baby!

Welcome aboard and thanks for joining the forum.
Now that "WE" have that out of the way....um...
1. Lynch Road did things differently for sure.
2. Nice Dodge!
Cool cars
Again, WELCOME!

@dadsbee, if you dont mind, what does the 8W on your tag mean? Just curious, i can't figure it out.
Edit: I'm sure it's in your build thread, i just didn't see it.

Ahha, its a dodge thing! My rr book didn't have it. Thanks fc7!

it is the same on Plymouth tags from Lynch road for the 1969 model year, too.
There was just no "V8-" stripe available but "V6-" and "V7-" stripes instead for Plymouths.

"V6-" is a longitudinal tape stripe and "V7-" a painted pinstripe.
So ie an RR has a white tape stripe from the factory the tag would read "6W" = "V6W"
