I have always liked this kind of stuff and tend to solve a Sudoku puzzle when I wake up in the morning -kinda like some have a cup of coffee. (it gets the blood flowing to the brain as does stretching and exercising).
I came across this simple puzzle/question on youtube and liked its simplicity.

1+4 = 5
2+5 = 12
3+6 = 21
8+11 = ?

BTW- when coming up with the answer it is much like filling a box on a sudoku puzzle. If one cannot justify it-it may not be correct and be just a guess. (I found (justified) the answer in 15 min.)

AxB+A=X

Goes to prove that a D+ in Algebra IS passing.

I went through an algebra class in high school and passed with a B without gaining a clue as to what was being taught to me.
I was taught how it worked but not how to apply it. I should have been given an F in that class.

My dad shared a story with me years ago . . .

He had a teacher in High School ( or College ) that was blind and taught the math class . . . as a result of that, some of the kids took advantage of that and screwed around, on the other hand, my dad soon observed that his blindness also resulted in him learning all kinds of "tricks" to help with the math . . . if you did not follow what he was saying, and note that his numbers were not always "exactly" where they should have been - if you followed along, you'd learn all kinds of great tricks that could be applied later. All of this was missed out on if you took advantage of the situation . . . and then those were the kids that complained that he was the worse teacher in the school ( usually because they flunked the class ). As a result, he taught me many of these tricks that are ingrained in my head today . . .

Interesting story that I'll never forget . . .

The math is wrong so I will not play.
