72 charger exhaust

Hey folks. I have a 72 charger with 440 and I just installed some hooker 5903 1-7/8 comp headers.

What is the quickest, simplest, easiest exhaust setup downstream? I don't mind if it's just x pipe and mufflers with turndowns. Just would like to know if someone has some part numbers based on experience.
 
I am interested in the same thing for my 73 charger. Good thread.
 
I just would get some pipe and a cherry bomb it's cheap and easy to tide you over till you determine what you really want !
I used to keep a pair set up in the rafters slide them under find somewhere to hang them and I was off !

Why not just take the car to a muffler shop?

Headers/21/2" to Thrush Welded Chamber mufflers/Factory style tailpipes from Accurate Exhaust/then to the muffler shop.
 
This is on my 73 right now and it is loud inside the car. Causes a lot of drone, vibration, and unwanted uncomfortableness (word). Just pipes from the headers to mufflers with turn downs.

Thanks for the replies. Taking it to an exhaust shop is always an option but I enjoy struggling under a car on jack stands for a weekend. Makes me appreciate the finer things in life.

Anyone used this TTI kit that toolmanmike suggested?
 
HP manifolds and Accurate exhaust. easy bolt in.

Used a E-body hanger bracket on the left side that is a little low.

Summit sells header-back kits, I believe up to 3" pipe. Cheap and effective. My brother used a Summit kit on his Dart and was very happy with it for the price.
 
Great! Whatever I choose I'll give a review on this thread. I might as well let you guys know of how the hooker headers went in. 1972 charger with 440 and 727. Power steering. Power assist brakes.

Hooker part 5903 headers. Drivers side... Front of car on high jack stands. Engine mount bolt removed and tilted engine for clearance. Full size starter removed. Master cylinder removed just to get my hands in there. Headers easily fed up from bottom. Needed to make some clearance dents at the power steering box and torsion bar close to the collector. I got the starter back in by feeding header up and leaned out of the way, then dropped starter in place from above. Worked very well. Also you will want a stud on the rear bolt hole due to how tight it is to get a bolt started.

Passenger side... The only way I could get them to feed in from below without removing steering linkage and torsion bar was to pull the engine mount to tilt the engine and turn wheels to left. Had to force it hard past the bellhousing on 727 but it finally jumped in. Needed to clearance around the torsion bar on a couple spots but really not too bad.
