...to the arsenal. I've waited years to add a 1911. The RIGHT 1911. The moment I saw this one, I knew it was the one.

Restored? Matching serial numbers through out? Looks like a new weapon. Great find.

Unrestored, 1976 Government. All numbers match. Appears to be unfired...factory test aside. It absolutely feels new. Even came with a shoulder stock!

Mine is well used not matching serial numbers, but most parts are from the late 40's. The story I got is it went through a government program that disassembled many of these weapons and refurbished some numbers of them for reissue.
You have something very rare with yours.

Yes, it's damn near impossible to find a wartime 1911 with complete matching numbers. I'm happy just to own one, a wartime piece is something else altogether!
Congratulations!

Thanks for the kind words.

Flip that rascal over so we can see the other side of the slide. :)
I'd love to have a "government model" one as well - none of the aftermarket stuff
ever interested me much, but an original service used model would.
Tried to get one for a decent price through the Civilian Marksmanship Program, but
arrived too late to that party.

Cool, I don't have a 1911 yet. Next for me is this. I love a gun that has some history. I'm sure I'll hate shooting it but I love the way it looks.

Yep, same here!
Years ago, when I bought mine, Turkish built, what I could afford. During the hunt, ran into news about a crate, filled with Government issued 1911s, each one brand new, still had cosmoline coating on them. The gent who found them, was from Germany, that crate came out of Russia! At the time, price was still un-decided.

Nice 1911. They are like Lays potato chips, you can't have just one.

I've read there will be a few other releases from the CMP. I could be wrong though. One of those pistols would be fantastic to own! Fairly impossible to purchase here in Canada, however.

Here are a couple more pictures:

How about a build sheet, certitag and fender tag?
The unfortunate part of this purchase is the lack of documents. No box, no test target and no original paperwork. All I've got are the numbers and condition, which is good enough for me. This pistol will see the range much the same as our cars were built to be driven! I've got 1000rds. of 230gr. FMJ to run through it!
