Talking with this gentleman at our local cruise night. He tells me make an offer. All original but radial tires, 53000 miles, he is the second owner since 1973, it is his only car, and he says he just wants something newer. Lol. Solid body, frame and floors, great patina but only 318 poly. Such a nice unmolested original. I made him an offer. He is thinking about it. What do you guys think it is worth?

^^^^ yep, I was thinking the same range $4500 to $5000.
I always look at what is there and what is missing. Looks like everything is there.Sometimes the mouldings, headlamp rings, grille and such will well surpass that number if they are missing and need replaced.

Being a sedan, I'm going to say a little more than $5000 depending on how clean the body really is. I'm not a big fan of these but think it's more in the $6000 - $6500 range. Good luck with the deal!

You dont owe us any favors, but I'd love to know if you can manage to pick this up for only $5k. A thorough clean and buff, some new springs, and some wheels to enhance the true '63 attitude, and it'll look like a million bucks (at least to me). Lefty71

62's and 63's are so ugly that they are cool. The body is really clean. There isn't even a ding along either side of the car. He said I can come to his house, Jack it up and check out the whole underside thoroughly if I want to. What I can't figure out is how this is his only car and I have never seen it around before last night.

Kinda hard to determine what it's worth without more info imo. No AC, PS, etc? What's the interior look like? Can we ask what kind of an offer you made on it? PM if you don't want to mention it in public.....

It does have power steering, heater and radio. That is about it for options. Interior is complete with some of the material coming apart on the lower driver seat. Back seat and head liner look like brand new.

I'd give 5k for it....but there's always someone that will pay more imo.

It's worth what your willing to pay...
You into it for the money or the car?

I am never in these cars for the money. I am into them for the love of old American muscle. I am always broke because of these old cars. It's a drug, can't find my cure. Must buy another one....

You're addicted to cars! Better than any chemical addition by a long shot!

If the paint is original and you can't find a hole anywhere, that's a pretty nice car. Also, if the seat material is not dried out, it can be fixed cheaply.

318 Poly motors have loads of potential. Stroker kits for LA 318 drop right in. Shell out for the super expensive new Poly 4 bbl raised runner intake and it will run if the combo is right.

Looks like a solid 63

I don't know the market of them very well
from the description & condition, engine etc.
I'd say $4500-$6500 is my best 'wild *** guess'
but that's where I'd like to see it,
if it was me interested in buying
But;
I base that on Calif. car market is different
& sometimes far better than most areas, less rust
more of them out here, that are usually really complete,
solid & somewhat rust free cars everywhere
they ain't cheap thou

but you don't have any of the salt
& rust problems 'mostly' out here either
unless it's in the higher mountains or by the ocean

Well, he turned down my offer. He says another gentleman offered him more but he says everyone else wants to cut it up as a race car. He also said I was the first one he ever heard that I would leave it alone and drive it as is. Sounds like he wants to sell it to me over others regardless of how much money but apparently I need to come up more. Undecided if I want to up my offer or if he is just fetching to get more?

Come up 10%, (if it's worth 5, it's worth 55) and think of a couple examples to tell him how it will have a good home going with you.

Ask him flat out what price would make him happy....or tell him that's all you can come up with......unless he's willing to take payments. Just a thought.
