What words did YOUR parents use that sound weird today? What did those words mean?

Here's some mine used..

Warsh = wash
Scads = many
Scillions = a great many
Skidaddle = get the hell out
malk = milk
youns = all of you
cattywhompus = crooked

get a job = ask for public assistance

¡¡¡Mira cabron!!!
Something like" look you goat" or "watch out you:...something, one of those phrases that have no translation, my dad say that when he was mad at me, pretty much all the time.

Usually . . . It was just wait till your father gets home . . .

And

Back-asswards - backwards
Kitty corner - 180 degree opposite side

nit pick, getting oiled , three sheets, rest the dogs, batty , ugly stick.

my dad says 'give me a bee-back',
mostly to people of his age, in his RV SIR's (seniors in retirement) group
it's like saying 'give me a call back when you get a chance'

I never did get that one

'whoops stepped on a frog', when he farts
or 'pull my finger' :poke:

us kids were called 'dorkasorous's' growing up

that's my nickname for my dog Elvis now,
when he acts weird or goofy
'pure bred dorkasorous'

'pucker-up buttercup' he'd say to the kids
or my sisters when we were young, when he wanted a kiss good by

'Warshington'
or 'Warsh' the cloths too
it must be a born pre-war or mispronounced deal,
we don't really have accents in Calif., to speak of

also he'd say 'he was raised in Bezerkeley' (for Berkeley/Albany area)

@69a100 knows this one...

Over-by-dere
I'm not fimilar with that one, I always do the Cheesehead slang, yah-hey-dere.
Dad used to always substitute "oh shaw" for crap or $h!t.
"Children should be seen and not heard", that always pissed me off!

Ward, aren't you being a little hard on the beaver?

Jeepers Dad, You don't want the beaver to get sore.
