So I have all the mechanicals in my 69 RR straightened out and it runs like a scalded cat!!! My newly built 492 stroker is in, new stage II trans from John Cope Racing is in and the car is an absolute blast to drive. The exhaust on the car is leaving a lot to be desired and its time to replace. I have been running stock HP manifolds (and I want to keep it that way) restored with the eastwood system. I know I am leaving a lot on the table HP wise, but I am ok with that. With 4:10 gears, I can still make plenty of tire smoke stabbing the throttle at 30mph!!!!

Mancini Racing has 4 options for exhaust systems a 2.5 inch with either an H pipe or an X pipe and a 3 inch with either an H pipe or an X pipe. For my set up, which is the preferred option (and why if you don't mind explaining).

Just as an FYI, the manifold numbers are 2843992 and 2806990

RR with a 383HP? I "lent" Dave Walden my OE x 383 exhaust head pipes and he had Steve duplicate it. Contact Tom at ECS and he can supply an exact OE exhaust system less clamps and hangers.. those you can get from Frank B.

Engine Masters did a comparison regarding H vs. X as well as tubing diameter. It makes no difference...especially without the benefit of headers.

Depends on how much power you're making and how quiet you want things, but this video will pretty much answer your question outright methinks:

BTW, I have 3" duals all the way back off headers on mine (Flowmaster 40's) and....well, it's friggin LOUD.

Lessen the heat and weight. TTI’s (ceramic coat), followed by QTP’s, followed by Dynomax.

Pypes and MagnaFlow both make 2.5" X-Pipe systems for B-Bodies, Flowmaster makes an H-Pipe system. MagnaFlow makes 2.5" downtubes for the 440HP manifolds which will connect to any of those systems. Pypes allows you to buy their system without mufflers so you can use whatever you'd like. All systems are mandrel bent so they stay 2.5" through the length of the system. You can find any of those systems here-https://classicmusclecarexhaust.com/

I have the same manifold numbers on a 69 belvedere and I just bought the TTI with tail pipes in 2.5”. I wouldn’t use an oem copy unless you want concours resto type look, which I don’t think you probably do seeing as your driveline isn’t stock. My reason for that is the mandrel bent TTI stuff will flow much better than conventionally bent pipes. Their systems are known for fitting exactly as they should with no fuss.
3” is over kill.
As others have said H or X won’t matter performance wise. I bought H as it will be easier to service things and take apart should I have too.
I also have a 69 RR and it has exact copy 2.5” to the muffler with 2.25” tail pipes. It looks far more restrictive than the tti.
Good luck!
