Hello!

So just a little over 6 months ago, I ordered a 69 Dodge Charger "premium" grille set. It was a $1500 part but they were running a sale. Which brought it down to about $1200. I could of SWORE it said at the time if the part came in shortly (I thought it was like 60 days) I would get the sale price if I bought then and there, but if the part never came in, it was cancelled

I now, 6 months plus later, get a random email tracking number. It showed only a shipping label was created but not yet scanned by UPS. When I called to try to stop it they said it was too late. The first person I spoke to was really pushing I could keep it, and suggested that maybe I could resell for full price and make a profit, but when I looked up that part on line, NOW that they are at last in stock, the selling price is only $999. No one offered to refund me the difference of what they sell for now and what I paid which is hundreds more

They claim they notify the buyers when the parts come in BEFORE shipping but if, and only if, you CALL so they can check a little box but if you order on line, it just goes out..... or if it never comes in stock, then it doesn't happen. Seem to me that many people after 6 months may find the part elsewhere (swap meet, etc) .

After a 2nd call, they said they will give me a refund but after I pay to ship it back, and after they deduct their shipping, so it will be at least $100 out of pocket. And if I didn't return it I am rewarded by paying more then anyone else at full prices. It is still however cheaper to return it, lose shipping both ways, and re-buy the exact same thing. Heck, I might even get the same boxes back. What's wrong with this picture?

Am I wrong in thinking they are not doing me right? I paid more for parts from Classic Industries that are cheaper from other vendors thinking I was paying for A+ customer service. This, however, is very disappointing

At this point, I don't even need the part

Yikes, that is a sad case of mismanagement. I would be livid, too.

Edit: If you’re up to fighting this, I’m 99.9% sure that you could get your credit card issuer to contest the charge on grounds that you did not authorize this recent transaction amount. You stated you committed to purchase over 6 months ago. I’m pretty sure a credit card company could contest the charge and, set Classic Industries straight on this poorly handled situation. Probably worth a call with your card issuer - to verify if there are any consumer protections for you on this.

PM them they are a vendor here
they should make it right with a refund to new price with out extra shipping

Did you pay with credit card?
If so call card company & see what you can do.

It's the same old story for CI......

Then they come to these threads and say the same lame excuses and then make it right.........Thats what happens when they are "for profit" and "not for customer"....

Just me but I think you need to take a step up the old food chain and talk to someone else.
I would think they would honor the new sale price if you speak to the right person and not just some gum snapper on the phone bank.

Indeed. I should try. But why does it always needs to become a project. I thought I would change the carb on the 440.... nope, I guess I'll blow the day tomorrow on the phone instead.

Well good luck, Most of the vendors these days are staffed by young kids that do not know a headlamp from a tail and have a Q card for different situations. Hope you do not have to spend the day on it.

If you request to speak to the manager or supervisor that should help you.

Dont be afraid to be firm. Be polite and proffesional but dont take any **** either and tell them how it is.

If you still want the part I'm SURE you can talk to a supervisor and get a refund for the difference in sale price.

Or if you dont want the part anymore because of all the problems you went through during the ordering process and lack of reasonable communication then demand a full refund and that they pay the return shipping.

DO NOT SETTLE FOR ANYTHING LESS! THAT IS VERY IMPORTANT. Demand a full refund with zero money out of your pocket.

If they dont want to give you that, simply take it up with your bank, credit card, paypal. Can almost garentee you'll get your money back and who knows you may even get to keep the part...

Dont let them get away with this, its makes them more likely to dick other people around in the future

Not sure about you guys, but if the transaction goes over 42 days (6 weeks) then the deal is dead if paid by credit card.

Call your bank @b569Charger and get that transactions cancelled on the basis of "misuse of your original authorisation" - given the time of non-communication - (fraudulent use) ...see how the bank handles it.

Sorry B569, I lost track through this thread. 6 or more beers in here.
How much are you out at this point?

......and have a pen & paper handy - write down names, dates, times, and quoted solutions while on the phone. Get them to repeat what they said if necessary.
I hate seeing bullshit like this going on with suppliers being tardy.

All customer service is that way now, not just CI. Walmart, Amazon, HomeDepot, Rock Auto and more. It is truly the time of the squeaky wheel no matter who you give your money to.

Maybe this was mentioned, If they are selling the new inventory of grills at $999.00 they found a cheaper supplier or the wholesale price dropped drastically. The grill they shipped you came from the new inventory of lower priced grills. Common sense would be they can adjust your purchase price to $999. and they are still making a profit.

Exactly......as I said earlier they are for profit and not for the customer.......

And just because the others are like this doesn't mean that it's the right way to do business.
I don't believe right or wrong is within our control and hasn't been for decades. Courts are not about right or wrong either. Insurance is not about right or wrong. When he gets high enough up CI's food chain he will get what he wants. I miss the 60's also but they are gone. My opinion.
