Hello, my name is Terry and I'm the new guy on the forum looking for some advice. I've been installing a 512 low deck motor into a 1967 GTX, the car didn't have a engine when I bought it. It previously had a 426 Hemi so I changed out the hemi k member with a k member from a 66 Plymouth. I've ran into several problems, the pitman arm is rubbing the headers and the 7 1/2 at oil pan is resting on the center link. I'm sure I'll be able to heat up the header and put a dimple in it but the center link is the big problem. Is it possible to put a dimple across the pan where the center link is contacting it, I'd hate to pull the motor to swap out the oil pan. Is it possible I need different motor mounts ? I can get the bolts in the motor mounts and tighten them down. Need some advice, thanks.

What kind of mounts are you using? I would recommend Moroso solid mounts. Sounds like the engine is sagging.

Hope your saving K frame. 67 Hemi GTX's rare fairly rare.

Welcome from Alabama, Who's oil pan and is it correct for your application? Also is the transmission mount correct. That could be where it's sagging or hanging down. What did you do with your Hemi K frame?

The 187 Mopar pan works well. I had issues with a Moroso pan doing the exact same thing.

Welcome from the show me state!!

Which oil pan do you have? Also which headers?
I bought a 7" deep front sump from 440 Source and the headers were from Summit, I think they were called Patriot. I have the 240 trick flow heads, they have the angle plugs so several of the tubes had to be heated and adjusted to allow cleance just to get them installed. If I've learned one thing on this build just because the manufacturer or vendor says it will fit your application, it's not always the case.
Thanks for your reply.

It's a 440 source oil pan and it still had the 727 transmission in the car no motor when I bought the car. Quite a few of you commented about the hemi k member, I ended up selling it for $500.

No doubt about that. I just went through this yesterday with a pair of strut rods I bought from Mancini. Claimed to fit exactly like the factory ones, yeah right. Spent a couple hours going to a buddies shop on a Sunday to turn .060" off the bushing sleeve area. NOW they fit like they should. Hope your headers are able to be modified without to much hassle. If all else fails, I just put a pair of TTI's on my car with the Trick Flow 240's and they fit perfect.

You really need to start with confirming that the mounts are all correct and in good condition so that you know the motor is where it belongs. From there just bite the bullet and do it right even if it means buying a different pan. Was a girdle added? As far as headers go I've found Mopars are particularly fussy, you really have to do your homework and buy a pair that are proven, so many aren't. Good news is I've seen videos where they beat the piss out of headers while on the dyno and surprisingly there's little to no affect whatsoever.

I've had a Milodon 7 Qt pan that fit fine. Now have a Milodon "road race" pan. Fits great. Headers can be a REAL pain. 45 years ago I ran the Hooker 2" "race adjustables" on my '65 Coronet, & the 2 1/8". They both fit great. My Satellite has TTI 2", they fit great with suspension & angle plugs. Inexpensive headers can drive a person nuts (my 1st set on my 383 Barracuda needed lots of dents). Too bad I didn't have the torches then to get them red hot. Spending the money for headers on the front end saves a LOT of irritation.

Welcome, lots of experience & expertise here.
