Re-use bolts on PP & FW ??

I'm going to replace my clutch (including the pressure plate), and I'm wondering if I can re-use my old bolts, both on the PP & on the flywheel.
('69 stock 383 4bbl)
I know it would be "easy" enough to do so, but I've got everything I need, except for new bolts & I'm eager to get started. OK to re-use the old bolts?
Also, where would I obtain new bolts? Anyone know the sizes?

Agree... If you were building a new 600HP stroker I might look for some ARP stuff but for what your doing you are fine...

I would use old bolts as long as your sure they weren't over tightened.

Check bolts for stretch or damage before reuse

Just did it recently and followed the instructions included with the bolts.

• Part#: ARP-130-2201
• Item: PRESSURE PLATE BOLT KIT
• Part#: ARP-240-2801
• Item: FLYWHEEL BOLTS

ARP bolts.
Use the ARP torque specs included with the bolts.
The ARP ultra-torque came with the flywheel bolts.

Flywheel - 75 ft/lbs for 7/16-20 bolts, Loctite 242 on threads, ARP ultra-torque under bolt heads.

Pressure plate - 45 ft/lbs for 3/8-16 bolts, with ARP lube.

If you use fastenal buy Grade 8 bolts. Be careful not to buy bolts that are to long, especially flywheel bolts.

The pressure plate bolts on that link at Summit, only show CHEVROLET on their application chart.
Is that the part number you used? Good for MOPAR BB?

The customer comments after the Summit ad say yes.
HOWEVER, do the old bolts that you have now have the 9/16" head? Check your bolt fit to the new clutch cover before you order. Some covers may not have clearance for the 9/16" bolt head.

Yes, I saw that 'customer-to-customer' reply in the Q&A. Might be more convincing if Summit had replied.
I see they have a set of McLeod bolts (for twice the price!) that show the Plymouth application I need... and also show the same size as the ARP bolts.
"Size is Size", right? (3/8-16)
Seemingly, the ARP bolts should work?
I don't have anything taken apart yet, so idk if the bolt heads on my car are 9/16.

3/8"-16 is the thread size for the cover to flywheel att.
If you have a 3/8" bolt with a 9/16" head laying around, you can check your bolt head to cover clearance with that before you order.

I'm fairly certain grade 5 bolts are what you want they have stronger left to right load grade 8 is for like pull away load .

You are correct, I should've know that. Distort before breaking, kind of a warning. Start klunking before breaking.

Years ago my boss said the company would pay me for any training class I found so I sat threw a 2 day class about nuts! And bolts !

I’d take the pressure plate and flywheel in and have it neutral balanced.
I have a Hays SFI billet flywheel that was supposed to be neutral and needed work.
Also have a McCleod pressure plate that was supposed to be neutral and was way off. We had to weld an ingot to it to balance it.

It only cost me about 125 to have them both done.

Well, I was able to get the bolts that 'matthon' suggested from Summit. Looks like there's plenty of room around the new [RAM] clutch cover for a 9/16" bolt head. If all doesn't go as planned, I guess I can always re-use the old bolts if they look ok.

Yes and yes.
Original 383 4 speed car, just put a new flywheel, pp, and clutch in it.

really ????? grade 5 bolts for installing a clutch and pressure plate -- somebody may have went to class for nut and bolt tech but they were not listening --- factory used grade 8 --- if you want to use grade 5 bolts in this application -- the next time you take your car out for a ride get a grenade ,pull the pin out and jam the arm under the console or seat -- believe me you are not going to hear any clunking before it lets go.
