Might need more than a bore hone

Bought a seized 440 and trans for 500 cad and took it apart most bolts came out easy but I think I'll be lucky if it cleans up at 30 over.

I can't tell what broke first the far right cylinder has a broken exhaust valve there's piston in the head and the piston is sitting above deck still missing its head. My only theory is the timing skipped and valves hit pistons or the rod snapped and caused a chain reaction cause the block is fine externally

I think you will be lucky to get the pistons out.

Hehe, man...that one is a crusty bastard. Probably make a ton of power when cleaned up.....I've seen worse....

I originally planned for a big stroker or roots blower depending how it cleaned up, now I just hope nothing worse is hiding under the oil pan. It was a virgin bore 75 block before.

I’d fill the cylinders up with Evaporust before I’d even start trying to get it apart and I’d try to not to push any of the pistons further into the bores.

If you can borrow or rent a peening gun or air hammer, you may be able to rock the pistons back-and-forth
to loosen them and get them out. If you knock the center of the pistons out, it will reduce the fit in the bore and aid in removal.
When you are all done, you'll have to get the block blasted with aluminum oxide before any machining. How are the main bores
and cam bores?

I'm sure a ball hone will fix that....

Good luck, hope your able to save something outta that mess...

Yeowza!!

That’s pretty ugly.

My guess is there’s going to be some real work involved in getting it apart.

But...... after that?
Yeh, 3 finger spring hone and done :usflag:

I wouldn’t be surprised if that exhaust valve broke off from corrosion just sitting there.

(Or, does it look like it banged around in there?)

(Or #2..... you took the valve out of the head after you pulled it off the motor)

what's this have to do with a 500 CAD
this is a mopar forum
but
all are welcome

Where was that 2 hours ago, I was looking for something heavy to replace my dock chain anchor that broke off.

Who is it on here thats always bragging on sea foam ?

I'm not up on currency exchange rates but I hope that works out to be .50 cents US. Just kiddin, hope it works out for you.

Sharp punch, big hammer, smack the pistons in a circle around the top of the small endof the rod and break them. Saves yourself a bunch of time, I've done it before on a 383 HP I got for free. The bores survived way better than thought they would. I think .030" would save the one I have, and it was bound for the scrap yard.

I have the second head off finally after cutting the bolt off. It's worse somehow.
