Whatever Happened to the Dealership he bought ?

Whatever Happened to the Dealership he bought ?
Good Question!!!
I am not sure I know he sold one or two cars from "grave yard motors" but web page says coming soon for like 2 years.
The web page used to say buying cars, nd had a submission form, not sure it still dose.

Even though the show was about Mopars - I border line hated it early on. I’m not saying it “got better” per se - but I love the show now. Yes Mark is quirky/arrogant/etc. - but if you can get through the incessant amount of commercials (even recording and FF) the show has grown on me.

A guy can debate whether Mark actually knows the material or it’s scripted - regardless he has knowledge. Does his sense of humor relate to everyone - of course not. Some things are funny and some not - I genuinely think behind the cameras he is a good guy and wants his customers to be satisfied. In later seasons they have done more feel-good stories and Mark has shown a sincere interest in the client. I also commend him in regard to timelines and how they will not compromise quality just to get cars out the door faster - a guy has to respect that (even though it is on tv).

It’s a show and it needs ratings to stay on the air. At the end of the day it is entertainment. I do think they show on tv way too many of the same builds. I mean it’s either a 71 Cuda or a 68-70. No disrespect but a little variety would be nice as well - and show more than lowering the car to install the driveline or putting in a rearend.

Get rid of the animation skits - they are weird.

I found it interesting when he started working on a 64 Sport Fury, and was totally lost. I can see some consternation working on the 58 Fury, but 64 is pretty main-stream. Still haven't seen them work on a C-Body and very, very rarely on an A-Body. One-Trick Pony?

I agree. Also bad? The inclusion of the producer and camera guys. Nobody cares about those guys except their families, right?

It seems like Mark is obsessed with the tv show the office (British version) so I think the inclusion of the camera crew and producer is inspired by that. Not a good move for a Mopar show.
Think we all agree more car screen time.

If I worked at GYC, I might end up lost in the back, for days with all the cars waiting to be restored.
Now that is a segment he should use, film the graveyard, and a bit of the cars story.

They've done that a few times.

Mostly it's 2 or 3 similar cars where the differences are pointed out, and Mark gets to quote option codes.
Not terrible and one of my favorite segments.
He does kind of come across as a kindergarten teacher though, where he assumes his audience knows nothing about available options.

Hard to stay interested , same old cars over and over .
Who really cares about most of the crap he`s spouting ?

You really can't blame Mark for what cars the customer wants to restore. The cost of a restoration limits what people will restore, figure about 75,000 plus parts to do the average job on an average car, more if rusty, or odd like a daytona or superbird. It is hard to get out of any shop, rotisserie restored, every system rebuilt or replaced, not perfect to the last detail, but turn key for less than 100,000. In my own case on a superbird it took 550 hours to do all body, make all gaps nice, fix all sbird bad fit, and know gremlins like the bad areas at the hood pins that you see cracked on so many budget jobs, block it, paint it, cut and buff, and get the car back in 1 year or less. I will admit I paid extra so it is NICE, did not want the shitty factory look. Take that times the shop rate, add about 8-10 grand for the best materials, 30-40 grand for all new glass, trim polish and all kinds of other stuff you will need. Now add disassembly, assembly, shoot I have 100k, plus tons of my time in a car I paid $1350 for....it still would have been smarter to sell it, add the 100k, and buy a done car, you have to want the car. The show is good in my opinion. It also needs to be said it is not easy to find any shop who will even work on these cars within a decent timeline, a sbird/daytona gets the barrett-jackson VAT tax always. The first shop effed my car up and I had to pull it. In my case it is going to be real hard to not just slip a 6.4 - 5 speed and a/c in so we can really enjoy the car.

The guy is so full of himself and half the time he starts spitting out codes and information about the cars he's wrong!

I am a MOPAR enthusiast, and enjoy MOST things Mopar, I enjoy learning something new about them. I don't really care to hear about the production numbers he rattles off all the time.
I also understand in his shop he cant help what cars customers want restored, but he can help what cars are shown on HIS TV SHOW.
Would be nice to see an assortment of cars, he is on season 9, or 10.
I still watch (roll that beautiful Mopar footage) just offering some thoughts

The best part about restoration. Is learning what is done. , and maybe applying that experience to a creation were all doing. Its just the staged drama thats the show killer. Reality is. Most restoration shop owners are either a*• holes or are just arogant and really stuck in there bubble. . Ive worked for both types. But then again its really hard finding a capable crew to work as a team to do these tasks. And its even harder working for shops like these when they have no money to pay there employees.

I enjoyed his "Little Dead Wagon" Dodge A-100 Build .I have a '68 A-100 P/U.

For the first episode of FBBO TV, we should do something with the guy from here, Bobby Sixkiller, the guy who posted about looking for his pop's old Challenger, and found it!!!!
It is a perfect FBBO story.
He posted here looking for it. Then member on here helped him find it.
That's a great story, and shows how cool FBBO members are!!!! That car would be a great kick off to our show, LOL.
(only drawback is car is an E body) but for TV drama, that may work!!!
We can pretend NOT to know, that it is an E body, until at the end of episode, when someone tells us it's not a B body, and we can toss tools around and act pissed off,it worked for OCC, and Paul SR for years.
Careful GYC has spies here and will steal this idea.

I got banned at DodgeChargerdot com. After a thread fight with Tony. I said it was A Comedy dhow based on car restorations, scripted and edited. Filmed 6 months to a year in the past. He said no as I was in the episode and was current. I asked him if he ever heard the word editing? Then tread deleted and me banned lol. Anyways the touted 68 Charger R/T in MM1 Turbine Bronze, it is currently being fixed in Oakley CA. I saw a post stating all original parts some NOS removed replaced with aftermarket. Guy is posting the repairs needed soon.

So the car was "Restored" by GYC but then taken to another shop to have things corrected?

Careful GYC has spies here and will steal this idea.

Thanks for the heads up!!

The spies need to inform the "Ice man" that, the "ICE CAPADES" are what most people complain about.
IF any GYC spies are currently reading this, tell Mark he should hire some of us, the more skilled workers he has the more cars can be put out the door.
He has to strike while the iron is hot, because this GYC kick, might not last forever.
Look at Orange County Choppers, from small shop to huge hit,(and huge expansion) to bankruptcy. I wish him the best, because any Mopar show is good for the hobby.

If Mark is "the dream maker" as he claims, then hire me, its my dream. He has nothing to loose, as he can fire me, and then make fun of me.
