Has anyone modified their stock Fuel sending unit to mount the FI fuel pump in the tank? I am thinking of cutting the pick up tube and putting pump in it's place for my Charger, just wondering if any one has tried, failed, did it?? Is this a stupid idea?

Thanks

i bought a 90 degree strainer so it sits on the bottom of the fuel tank so it will pick up all fuel . to install i had to remove the float then with the unit in the tank poped the float back on to the unite inside the tank was not e-z .

That is what I did with the 90 on the strainer on my 72 RR, its functions ok until i have less than 1/2-1/4 tank. then the sloshing around will sometimes cause fuel starvation.

Did it 20 years ago on a A body Duster. Ran a GM pump from a 86 Corvette.I think the Corvette at the time had 38 lbs injectors.Installed a fitting in the top of the sender for a 1/4'' return.Drove the Duster from L.A. to Ohio for the shake down run.

Any issues with that setup?
Very interesting kit, as 6872n73 says, i wonder how much you might run against the fuel starvation issue.
Keeping the tank at decent level will avoid it i guess.

But it would make a nice setup to use with the Holly Sniper, no return line required!
