Dogs Suddenly Not Getting Along

Dobermans are always in the top 10 of number of attacks on humans each year.
I've yet to this day run across one that didn't make me nervous - they've got
a deceptive temper about them that even when they've been friendly to you for
years, you never quite trust them...for good reason.

I'm actually surprised poodles aren't on the top 10 also, though - they can have
quite the temper too if pushed or startled.
My mama raised poodles when we were kids and they have a distinct personality
to them - and a pretty good sized set of choppers, depending on which breed of
'em you have.

I would guess since the poodle spends most of its time outside the poodle was protecting what it considered it's territory.

If you do the research Labrador retrievers are responsible for more bite attacks then Dobermans. I know that Labs are much more popular then Doberman so that is probably the reason for more bite reports. I love all dogs but the ones I am most cautious around are the little ankle biters

Dogs are like people, everyone has a bad day. We have a prison full of them.

Hopefully this not your case….but.....as a shooting man when I used to live on a farm I had two working dogs...a black lab and a mad Springer Spaniel (they all are!). They were best friends...when out of the blue the Springer badly attacked the docile Labrador who did next to nothing to fight back. After which he kept his distance from her but became much more quiet. Two months later the lab was dead from a massive undiagnosed tumour on his liver. The vet said that this could have been the cause of the Springers attack....the cancer would have made the lab smell different by a tiny degree....but something a sensitive dog nose would detect. Apparently dogs can be taught to detect even early cancer in humans!!

Is the Doberman a purebred?
Maybe just the pictures but it looks like part coon hound.

Wimmin are like that from time to time. Wait 'till the Dob turns on you and won't let you in your own door, hope you carry.
This guy(dadsbee) sounds like a real beauty! Shoot your own dog?? Sounds like you shouldn't own one in first place. Dobbies are good dogs! I'd be more worried about the poodle. Dont care for them much.

Thanks Jessejames! :upyours: Read it again... I've had 4 friends that had to do so, as they couldn't get in their own house to their kids!

What I want to know is who here besides me had a news paper route before there were any dog tie up laws.
Mean dogs , lmao , us 1960s paper boys earned our $ the hard way.

I think dogs should be tied to a tree several hundred feet away from your house on a 2 foot rope, like mine.......

I don't know about dogs, but @dadsbee owns a Bird and a Bee and is a damn good guy.

As I understand it, the Doberman breed has become more docile over the past fifty years. I suspect with the Pit Bull, it's been the opposite transformation.

You should meet my PB Terrier, Shayla. We got her 4 years ago, she’s spayed, trained (shakes with both paws) sleeps with both my kids in their bedrooms but mostly my son (17years old, Autistic) and she loves him, plays ball but, she will get between him and a stranger when they go for walks. I trust her more than I trust money in the bank. And we now have a place (1 acre) where she can get up to full speed and I’d put her up against a cheetah for the first 2 seconds. She loves her “Scooby Snacks”, potty trained and she’ll climb up on to my chair while I’m sitting in and try to be a lap dog.

I never once thought I have her breed, but she’s a part of the family and gets her regular shots, while at the Vets, people always compliment her, she’s beautiful, mild mannered and loves kids! She has her full tail and non boxed ears, white belly grey body.
