Sealant for drop rails?

I’ve tried searching the forums. Wondering what everyone is using to seal their drip rails or what was originally used to seal them?

3M Urethane seam sealer. #08362. Gray.
Don't forget to dig it all out with a wire wheel and then replace all of it at one time.
About $22.00/caulking tube. The best you can buy!

plus a small paint brush and wax and grease remover to smooth it out

Or get a small cup of lacquer thinner and keep wetting your finger while smoothing the bead in the channel.

I clean all the old out. wire brush it. Spray it all down with permatex rust converter. The next day I put a nice size bead on with paintable seam sealer. Put on a latex glove & get a small can or cup of laquer thinner. Using the thinner & a finger smooth it out.

3M makes a self leveling seam sealer, I think DIY Auto School on Youtube has a video of it. Apparently it's pretty good stuff.

We have used both 2 part seam sealers and self leveling 3M/and SEM.. but the only
issue with using these products, is you have to have their respective guns to apply
their sealers. We had to buy one gun for use on a customers car, and since we have
been going to this supply house for over 40 yrs, the owner supplied us with another
gun for free.. so now we have both the 3M and SEM guns. I will say both products
are superior, and we have used the self leveling, and it is great stuff!

Oh I use either a SEM or 3M one at the shop, can’t remember, but whatever one it is the other manufacturer cartridges work fine in it.
