I've owned a few new dodge trucks, I hopes it's safe to say I like it, because I do! I just really like the way the reliability of transmission has gotten better since the mid 90's.

2004 std. cab short bed SLT 4x4 5.7hemi.
I've owned it since then and love the dang thing, 167k worry-free miles later.

If I recall you had a R/T Challenger 70,71?

I'll stick with my 84 W350 crewcab that I built...converted from 2wd to 4wd and swapped in a 93 1st gen drivetrain and a ton of other upgrades and parts.

Unless they make it illegal to drive these old vehicles I'll keep driving them until my end.

A few notes-

The 93/94 Ram- That truck changed the truck industry esp design for ever.

vw rabbit vs Omni- The first gen Omni/Horizon actually used vw/audi sourced 1.8l engine blocks!

...and I agree the truck design school seems to have come down with something previously known as "ugly van contest" syndrome.

However, IMO the Ram is currently the least offensive despite having an early lead.

It was my late little brothers' T/A Challenger, which I sadly don't own anymore.
In fact, it was the source for the money that made Fred possible.
Turns out, a T/A in need of full restoration is worth more than a GTX halfway done already...
Good news is, that car is only a couple miles from me right now, in the hands of a gentleman
I consider a friend (and had the wherewithal to do a proper job of restoring it).
I have full visitation rights and right of first refusal should he ever decide to sell it.
Still....that was a really tough call, but had I not made it, the car would still be in pieces in my garage -
and Fred as we know him would not exist.

In the end, I made what I thought was the best decision based on being a good steward for the T/A -
I knew he'd have a much better home with my friend.

We just picked up a ‘20 Scat Pack Charger. Front end reminds me of a 70 Plymouth front end, RR and GTX.

Well used to be mine, just sold for 15k, not to bad of a return for a 150k mile truck. paid 38k new for it. that's about 15.3 ct. a mile, plus fuel, plates, maintenance, and insurance, yikes!

I've owned numerous 1973-1993 dodge trucks.

As far as I'm concerned nothing compares as far as stone ax reliability.

This is my current truck, and it has been hammered mercilessly, with a 360/833 OD.

I've had 2200 lbs in the bed and the only issue was that it crushed the tailpipes.

What happens to all the current model trucks and cars when their software flakes out in 10 or 20 years ?

I would like the comfort and convenience of a modern truck, but since I do not make a living with my truck, I'll stick with the old stuff.

Not quite. They were 1.7 l blocks with Chrysler heads
And daytime running lights weren't ripped off anyone. They were mandated.
Besides, motorcycles had them before cars.
