Fuel tank sendor unit gasket question....anyone use a sealant on it?

Somehow the top of the gasket surface got pushed in a bit on this 'new' tank and was installed in the car like that and the guy has been dealing with it leaking at the top of the gasket. I was able to use a pair of channel locks to bring it back out and it looks and feels pretty good but I don't trust it and thought about using some sealer on the new gasket. If that's ok, what would be good?

As I recollect from past threads most problems sealing were due to the new and thinner lock rings and nobody recommend using RTV. Maybe there is a fuel resistant sealer I'm not aware of.

I did both the Bird and the Bee and simply coated the gasket with PST592. Mainly as a lubricant, but it's a thread sealer. Absolutely zero leakage or weepage.

Somebody posted a thread where they still sell the thicker ones. So, NOS is not necessary in case you don't still have one.

Ray had some "NOS" for sale and I bought a couple. They were thicker than the cheap repro's but still not as thick as line OE's. The one I show above was the repro supplied with my pickup/sender (or it came with the Spectra tank.. can't remember). Worked just fine.

The original is long gone so it's gonna have to be the aftermarket ring. If the leak is better but still leaking, I'll see about finding an original. And will used some of the thread sealant....

I have found that using 2 gaskets make a good seal, a little lube between the 2 will help it spin on while compressing the 2 gaskets twisting the ring on. Helps seal with the newer rings a mentioned. Good Luck

I never use RTV with gasoline components....not even it if says gas resistant. I'm also one that uses a MINIMUM of RTV on anything else. It's unreal with some people lol. And how much for an original lock ring? If it leaks again, I may hit you up on one.....

There is only ONE place on a Mopar to use RTV - on the four corners of a big block intake gasket. That's IT !!

One other place is if a Dana 60 cover gasket face is smooth or not.....
