This is my 1967 Charger Hemi restorastion underway. Wasn't even looking for another project when my wife ran into a buddy at the grocery store and he had a friend wanting to sell her Father's car. When I looked at it the next day, 10 minutes from my house, I couldn't believe it. 1 of 58 Hemi Charger's made in 1967 with a 4 speed, non-console with a buddy seat. Here are some pictures.

The first thing I did was removed the tow hitch. Would you believe that I found a photo of another barn find(see attached photo) that had the same exact tow hitch! It was an option that year, unbelievable that someone would have a tow hitch unless it was a drag car and he towed his parts trailer to the track.

The car is in great condition but I am painting the hood, roof and deck lid. The interior will be all new, ordered Legendary Interior replacment seast covers and carpet. I removed all of the trim to polish. I ordered new redlines from Coker, arriving today. The engine has been rebuilt. I have purchased small items as needed for interior, exterior and engine.

Just put it into primer yesterday, see photos.

Thanks for the comments, I will post as I go.

Great progress, Dean - keep the pics coming! A friend of mine has a '69 Hemi GTX he bought in 1983. That car had a tow hitch on it, too. He found time slips inside the door when he restored it. Could the GTX it have been the tow car for a drag car? If only these cars could talk!

Yes I agree with you, I think that is exactly why these muscle cars have tow hitches. On my car there are also two drilled holes in the center of the front bumper, which I believe were for a tow bar used at the drag strip.

I am sending the bumper out to be plated and the holes filled. The rear bumper has never been off the car and is in good shape. Thanks for your response.

look at this photo of the front bumper and you can see the two center holes in the top of the bumper. This is the day I picked up the car.

This is what I love about Mopars, under just about every hood is a built motor and absence of power brakes. Mine still has 4 wheel drum. It’s bravery or nuts that give us the ability to drive these beautiful machines.
