After a good drive on the highway, is the back of the car covered in oil? If so, that's a bad rear main seal. AMHIK Good LuckNo pictures but the other day I decided to dig in to my car and see why it was using oil. It uses about a half qt every 100-200 miles or so
Did a compression ck the other day and all are well over 200 . Plugs show no real signs of oil deposits. At least not enough compared to the loss of oil rate Im experiencing . Planning to do a leak down test this weekend . And if all is ok there. want to pull valve covers and ck for maybe an valve stem seal issue. and/or planning to pull the carbs and see if I can tell if its sucked an intake gasket . Fingers crossed its one of them and not a piston ring issue.
If it is I will live with it for a while then open it up maybe next year and replace pistons to something more pump gas friendly . 11.5 is NOT btw

Just to get it going --- What is everone working on?
Is it an upgraded/new cam profile? Is so? Its not that uncommon. Get it working great at higher Rs. Runs rough at idle via timing. Advance the timing to get it to run good at idle. Then pops a bit at higher rpm? Lol. Played that game many times.I am working on a 1966 Satellite with a poly 318 automatic trans. I am haveing a hard time keeping it running at idle any suggestions?
I think its all original i just bought it on Evil Bay so im thinking the carb is badIs it an upgraded/new cam profile? Is so? Its not that uncommon. Get it working great at higher Rs. Yeah. Carbs can get sticky just sitting there. Certainly the first place to start. Rebuild kit. A good carb can make a tired motor run somewhat decent. A bad carb will make even a new blueprinted engine run like crap.I think its all original i just bought it on Evil Bay so im thinking the carb is bad
very nice jobI’ve got my hands full..... covered in another thread, but I’ll add some pictures here too.
