Oh jeez. How could I forget the Oak!Pecan is good burning wood too
so it Walnut
I use to get a shitload of almond tree rounds
my neighbor has an almond orchard down in Oakdale
up here
it's Live-oak, Black-oak (scrub-oak) & Cedar or Pine
not too many fruits or exotics up here
so many trees taken down from the Bark Beadle infestation
you can hardly give wood away, everyone has an abundance
I use pecan, hickory, mesquite, maple cherry, and apple. I would like to find/try some orange.
I love me some hickory smoked anything myself...
But I got to wondering (and some of you won't even know what I'm talking about here):
I wonder if pawpaw tree wood is any count for smokin'??
They consider the fruit a delicacy around these parts. 'Course, they eat a lot of weird things, too.We have Paw Paw's up here, never thought about that wood for smoking. It is a fruit wood. 65'
