Anyone else have trouble with them? I'm starting to doubt their customer service.....So.....I ordered full exhaust for 68 coronet early February (headers to tips). EVERYTHING was in stock they just had to send the headers out for coating because I wanted them in black, that would take 4-6 weeks...cool....3 Fridays ago I was told they would be shipping out to me and they already recieved the headers back from the coating place. I called last week and was tole their shipping dept was behind and to call back to follow up on Monday...well I was busy and kept forgetting until yesterday (Thursday)....I called and the lady forwarded my info to their shipping guy..he calls me back and says now the tail pipes are on backorder! What! I told him I already paid for it all and was just waiting on the headers to get back to them which did 3 weeks ago....he says that they can't hold parts while waiting on the coaters, that sounds like a load of **** to me. Bit they won't ship out peices individually while waiting on the coating people because of shipping prices, cheaper to ship everything at one time which I totally get. So i bought parts and they sold them to someone else while waiting on my headers to get back. I'm so pissed, and the guy on the phone was giving me attitude explaining their company policy and how they have no room to hold parts......

Kind of strange that the tailpipes are on backorder since they make them. Why can't they just bend up a pair for you?

They will. Guy said they've been having trouble getting material in...my gripe is that they were in stock when I paid and now that my headers are back they are not....maybe it's just me but I feel like my stuff should've been tagged and set aside while the headers were sent off or they could've shipped what they had and sent the headers separately.

Reminds me of a story with a shop I worked at before I left and it eventually went to **** being closed by the IRS. Since the remaining owner (partnership broke up) he lost his line of credit being a dumbass and their #1 customer for 20 years wanted some parts machined. The customer bought the stock for him and had it shipped. So – what did the dimwit do? He used half that stock to make parts for another customer. Well ya can guess how pissed their long term customer was when they could only get half their order and theee end of that two decade relationship.

Yes, if a supplier has the stock tagged as sold with payment that stock is now owned by who bought it. It should be set aside for who bought it – period.

I had nothing but good experiences tti. Did you order direct through them or a third party?
What was the date you ordered in February?

They are a Customer Service Nightmare.. I wanted a set of their headers, bad, Cash in hand at an Event they were at.. I asked about O2 bungs and Coating.. Was told 6-8 weeks and they guy walked off (Might have been the look of REALLY on my face). Bought a set of Doug's, they were delivered to my house, had O2 bungs installed, and Coated in 2 weeks!

Shouldn't matter where you bought it from.. A sale is a sale!

It might matter. If the third was tardy in getting the order into tti that would represent part of the delay right there.

I had an issue with a head pipe once and they were super responsive and rush made a replacement and sent at their cost to me. That’s why I think it’s out of character for them and I’m just trying to get the whole story..

Also, if they apparently don’t do coating in house that’s another part of the delay their too.

With the pandemic it seems that many things are selling like hot cakes, out door recreation stuff, rv’s, pedal bikes, out door furniture, landscape supplies, lumber, and I’m finding a lot of car parts seem to be back order now too. People are spending lots of money doing things they never used to as travel is out of the question it seems. Us car guys are the same, it seems many dudes are working on their project which back benched for many years. Getting raw material for manufacturers also seems to be a difficulty for some too. Like it or not I think we all need to exercise more patience until the world gets their collective heads out of there asses and this pandemic bs stops.....

Sounds like TTI made some bad decisions on the amount of space needed to run their business. That policy makes no sense whatsoever. You should have asked...."So while I wait for the tailpipes now, the rest of my stuff is ALSO not being held for me and is up for sale?".

As a customer buying a full set of stuff you should be a priority and they should make room to gather and store your full order until ready to ship. If they can't, they should ship it in multiples LIKE ANY OTHER COMPANY DOES, not tell you that their problem of their creation is yours behind the guise of "policy".

Buy some cheaper headers, hammer them into place and tell TTI what they can do with their pipes!

I bought a complete exhaust system from TTI this Winter for my '66 Satellite with 572 Hemi and TF727 . Had to wait 3 weeks to have an O2 bung put in passenger side and the ceramic coated , everything arrived ok . Then the chaos of trying to get them to fit began . Passenger side hits 2 crossbolts and also the " bellhousing " portion of my 727 . Ok ... in and out maybe 5 or 6 times to get them to fit . Drivers side ........ hits 2 crossbolts that take 4 or 5 installs and then the shitshow of fitment for the starter area really gets going . Using the starter that TTI recomends ( Powermaster 9523 ) I tried 2 different clocking positions and there was no chance of any fitment . So............... 8 hours of heat , beat and repeat ( just like forged in fire ) I finally get the drivers side to clear the starter . Cylinders 1 and 3 pipes both have baseball size dents 3/4" to 1" in depth . The headers fit fine against the chassis , matter of fact there is so much room the could have easily adjusted the pipes to the outboard to clear everything . Car has a Gerst coilover front suspension and the headers are the model for that modification . I now have a driverside header with plenty of dings and scratches from the 25 times in and out that it took to get it to fit . 2 emails to Mike at TTI about the issues and no response !! I have had many sets of headers since 1977 and even built some race headers myself , but never had as bad of fitment and lack of customer support as this . All for $ 1200 plus the rest of the total kit !!!

I don’t blame you for being unhappy with those headers. A Hemi makes everything a tight fit but a good part of TTIs reputation is built on their ease of install and trouble free fit. I would think about telling them you would like to return yours to them with the hammer modifications and ask them to make up a set that clears as it’s supposed to. Is your motor on an original Hemi k-frame or is it on aftermarket mounts on a BB k-rame? The

I installed a Gerst front suspension which includes a tubular k-frame and coilover suspension . I can't say enough about the quality of the construction and service from Carl Gerst - top notch !! Everything involving the front suspension and engine installation went great , I used the spool engine mounts and engine location is in the stock location . Trans lines up on original mount . With the lack of torsion bars , header installation is much easier as is installation of most everything else . Yes I would have loved to sent my headers back to TTI to show what they could improve on , but that does not seem to be what they are interested in . In my emails to them I included photos and detailed explanation of the problems .... and I was nice about it , no swearing !!!!!!! The rest of the exhaust system fits well ( only 2 places of hammering to clear the gas tank ) . I have several other Mopar projects and none are going to have TTI products - is a shame . At this point my best recommendation to anyone is to by an UN-COATED set of headers , check for fitment ( hammer or reroute tubes ) and then send off to get coated/painted .

Yep - I waited 4 months for a booster (one I ordered never did arise so ordered a different one) and about the same for deck lumber materials last year. Ordered the lumber early (mid-March) so I wouldn't be doing the new deck surface in July/August hoping to get it done in May/June. Nope - did the southern exposed deck when ya could fry eggs on it...

Sorry, bad business practices.. Never TTI for me..

Got the ceramic/coated headers about 13 years ago. Bought direct. $1k to the door. Should have used a vendor. Little ding LL do ya on the passenger side idler. They are still intact. It’s time again. I’ll be shopping. They’ve been soaked good with oil and slammed a couple times on 66. Could probably put your finger through pretty easy now.

DOUG'S THIS TIME..

I love my lighter, black-painted, Hooker Super Comp long tubes at 1/2 price. They didn't even need a single dimple.

That's a shame to hear. My TTI headers went in without a single tiny ding needed - anywhere! My car is a 70 Road Runner with a 383 and 4 speed, Power steering and brakes.

The TTI's in my Cuda (416) went in and fit like a dream, best fitting headers I have ever used. I intend on using some for my 71 Charger with a 5.7 so we will see.
