Observations made in the course of everyday life.

I've noticed that people act as tough as Mike Tyson when they are behind the wheel, and are absolute rude pricks sometimes, but once out of the car they are perfectly polite, normal people again.
I was trying to change lanes a few months back and this car just would not let me in, even though I was signalling and waiting patiently. The guy was acting like an asshole, super aggressive. Anyway, I happened to see him in the carpark to a shopping center 5 minutes later. He didn't know it was me from the car, but I knew it was him as I saw him get out of his car when he parked. We both got in the elevator together, he even held the door open for me as I approached. Very polite, how's it going? etc. About mid 50's, paunchy, couldn't fight his way out of a paper bag. I was going to front him up about his driving, but just had a chuckle to myself instead.

Here is another observation....
TV ads for cars never seem to mention fuel economy or performance anymore. They brag about safety features but that seems to be all.
Except Dodge commercials. They still have guts!
I'm to busy recognizing the lack of commercials with white people in them.. it's all minorities and gays anymore!

When there are white people, they are in medication commercials or mixed race relationships. Not allowed to just be white anymore.

The wife and I have never called each other anything worse than "bitch" in our 42 years of marriage although I've no doubt that she, like me, has often been tempted to use something more harsh. "bitch" has often been preceded with the "F" word but that's about it.

Submit doesn't curse often, but when she does, it turns me on. :monkeyleft:

Why is it when you drop a socket or something it rolls to the geographic center of the vehicle?

The one observation that I made early on is one that my dad introduced me to, and I introduced my daughter to. It has served all three of us very well. You MUST have absolute honesty and integrity. That will carry you through many things.
In my case it got me the job that I have had for twenty one years. I work for the government, as their painter. I work in four communities in about eighty buildings. I have pretty much ZERO accountability to anyone, because they trust me to show up, do my job well, and not steal anything or cheat on hours. I am on the road alone for weeks at a time, I make my own schedule, do what I want. I am so very careful to not rock that boat because I’ve had shitty jobs. The oil patch, for example. Where we were treated like animals. Some of us were.
My wife trusts me, and I appreciate that. She should trust me.
Even people who don’t like my personality respect my integrity.
For a time I was probably the only person ever to have master keys to both all federal and territorial government buildings. Think about that for a second: the master keys to all levels of all government buildings with no accountability. That’s a big responsibility.

I’m not perfect, far from it. But I can look anyone in the eye, and I can sleep easy.
My daughter is the same. Got her first job at 12 as the grocery stores youngest employee. At fourteen she was in charge of cashier training. She got head hunted at 16 by another store to sell paint, and the first week they gave her keys to the multi million dollar business. She kept both jobs to put herself through med school.

I had the same situation and I never broke that trust. I did what I wanted, when I wanted, because everyone knew it was done. Total trust. Never lie.

I said...."I thought you were wanting to lose weight."
She was not pleased............ That's like, do these pants make my *** look big. You do know the right answer, right.
Being a furniture maker and working with something that can be seen from every angle , my wife says, I'm the only one that can find fault in anything. Life and people aren't perfect and the older I get, the more I like all the little strange things we all do and say. It's a map of where we've been, life's experiences and how we came out the other side. Life's to short to take ourselves to seriously, there is no winner in the end, we all lose.

Ever been "whelmed"?

You're usually either "overwhelmed" or "underwhelmed".

...but never just plain "whelmed".

I learned some time ago that even the word bitch is a big trigger.
I told the first wife once...You're acting like a bitch."
"Did you just call me a bitch ???"
"I didn't CALL you a bitch, I said that you were ACTING like a bitch"
She failed to see the difference.
This is almost exactly the same situation. Didn’t actually call her one just said she didn’t need to act like one. Lol Trigger remote missile here.

Day by day, we go about our lives and unless we are idiots, we pick up little bits of knowledge either from advice from another or by screwing something up and learning from it. Those that spend their lives on the couch surely don't pick up as much as the dudes that are out there mixing it up with others.
Youth is wasted on the young....as I get older, I can see the wisdom in that phrase. If a man had a teenager body and a seasoned mind, he would be unstoppable, right?

Like you people, I'm out there doing things every day. Sometimes I stumble across something new. It could be a different route home that is faster or more scenic, a new store that opened up, it could be anything.

Saturday, I learned something that I sort of already knew.
Women don't like to be reminded about their weight.

Really??

Yeah...the wife has mentioned the desire to lose weight over the past few years. Saturday, she was ready to order some tacos at the drive through. She wanted more than her usual order.

Hey...I know that I sometimes lack proper TACT when talking with people. I sometimes go off of impulse and forget to phrase my words in a more palatable form.

I don't set out to be rude or mean, the words just sometimes spew out.

So KD,how are those new dental implants working out? We all thought that you were banned, but the truth is out now, jaw reconstruction surgery was the real reason you went off the grid!

Casual observation: Single/unmarried females (repeatedly) flip their hair with their hand and look over their shoulder in public to see who is looking at them.

And 200+lbs women wear G strings with no shame at all... *** eats the whole thing leaving nothing but bare cellulite for everyone to see!

Some questions and comments from our spouses just need to be unanswered. Much safer.

In the 1950’s, I got crap for my Asian looks. Today, my wife busts on me for acting like an old white guy. I can’t seem to get it right

50's America didn't have much love for folks of Asian descent... 2021 America hates everyone.... Theres been more racial tension & hate in the past few years than any other time IMO.. I feel its more politicians, academia & the press than the actual people.... I speak with/deal with people from all races regularly & most are in agreement it's more stirred up than real problems...Or maybe the internet just makes it more obvious...

This is why having a clutch pedal on one's mouth is helpful. Just got to remind one's self to disengage it before going into a higher gear lol :D Hey, we've all been there and yes, I still have the urge to take a swipe without thinking but I've learned to bite my tongue with it comes to popping off my mouth to any woman! Now a days if some woman is popping off at me I just say "the door isn't locked if you don't like the way things are here......" That usually shuts anyone up pretty fast.
