Shootin' pretty far here.
Tragic boating accident?Man, I had an old Ruger .22 rifle that shot LR bullets. It did not have a scope, but I could hit about anything at any distance with that rifle ! It now resides at the bottom of Lake Erie (bad day).
This. I mean, 22LR wasn't ever meant to be a "sniper" round - it's for small game and honestly, for plinking.Trajectory has to look like a rainbow. Fun, but pointless. Without special optics, you couldn't hit anything at these ranges.
I think more specifically we're talking about the 22LR, but for example 22-250 and other .22's center-fire cartiges are the same diameter and bullet weight packed with more powder which are very good long range.
I love the "25 yard" comment. My 10-22 is only good to about 25 yards before the arc gets difficult to manage.
By far the best round for velocity and distance is CCI mini-mag.
If anyone's shot a better round through that rifle, I'd love to hear about it.
