Whats next?, 400Block

I got an identical block to that and was wondering if I can go bigger than 4.25 stroke? what crank rods piston combo did you use?? thanks, BTW the TF240 worked will in my 451 and got it to 612 hp and 625 tq with street manners but as usual we want more

What size headers and intake are you running with you TF heads

Like I said not all 230s are the same. This is the the only one we have come across w extra crank clearance....so far! Adding a main girdle should take care of the cap walk. I would just do 2 bolt with good main studs for a street engine plus girdle. The mains are thick like a aftermarket on some of the 230s and the cast is crazy hard. The cylinder walls are suppose to be thick but core shift can be a issue on any engine including the 230s. We just got this main girdle done, designed and built for a pontiac...pretty darn complicated compared to a mopar bb girdle.

Sooooo... I still haven't made up my mind about what size i should go on for 400 .. But I do feel like this is the winter for it. And also what's the benefits of compression, dont think i wanna go with to much so i get problem with fuel and timing..but then also, what cam and how much it bleeds comp ..:praying:

I went with a milder build 512 (tho i had a 440 to start) went with the Holley sniper setup and carry between 5-600 Ftlbs threw the entire powerband.. LOVE IT So This is one vote for the 512!! Go for it!!

I'm in the middle of a 400-512 build, went with a 440 Source kit, .035 over, 11.5 CR which I can raise or lower the CR with thinner or thicker head gasket. 270 TF heads, I have 2 cams and haven't decided which cam set up I'll go with yet. One is a Howard's solid with 260, 264 duration and about 660 lift with 1.6 Mancini/HS rockers. My other cam is a Howard's solid roller with about same duration as my other cam but with 680 lift. TF Track Heat intake ported to match the TF 270's intake runners, With the Track Heat intake I can run a 850 CFM on the street or 1100 cfm Pro Systems Dominator with 2 inch spacer at the track. TTI 2 inch headers, The block is set up with main studs and nodular iron main caps. I'm waiting for some back ordered Milodon external oiling parts so can't do much till my parts come in. Motor will go in my drag and drive 66 Coronet. If you have any questions feel free to ask. Only block massaging I had to do was on the oil pick up tube boss where I had to remove about a 1/16th of a inch of iron from the block where a rod was almost making contact with the block.

Looking damn nice that's for sure! Also gonna go with the TF heads and looking at some hugh cams at the moment!

I’ve built a few 400/512’s. I run one in my street roadrunner. The car is an absolute blast. It’ll run high 10’s through the mufflers on pump gas and I literally drive it everywhere.

I built one for my dads race car, it’s also a 10.5 motor that runs on pump fuel. 440-1 heads and a roller and it runs damn good as well.

I’m building one for a friends challenger right now that is also a street car. It’ll have TF240 heads heads and a TF cam.

Sweet looking Engine, Nice and clean. Is the 6bbl open up on vacuum or manual?

That one is a mechanical set up. The end carbs have accelerator pumps. I have ran the vacuum carbs on it as well.

Is it working well with mechanical? A few i talked with comment that the "punch" is not the same as when running vacuum?

works awesome! I’ve never ran it at the track with the mechanical carbs but I’d say it’s faster. It’s basically a double pumper on steroids. The mechanical carbs do flow slightly more air then the vacuum carbs. I haven’t found a carburetor set up the big motor doesn’t like actually. I have a 1050 dominator on it currently with a Indy intake and it’s flat out nuts. Even with sticky tires it’ll try to drive itself right off the road hitting it from even a 20 mph roll. I’d say it’s easily a few tenths faster but I’ve never run that set up at the track either. My local track closed and the car not having any roll bar makes it hard to get away with running it anywhere. I plan to put the six pack back on at some point when I convert the car back to a 4 speed. It looks way cooler with it.

for the right price anything is possible! Lmao

I’m running Indy SR’s ported by modern cylinder head. They are kinda in-between standard and max wedge port. I’ve ran both style of intakes on them.
