Hate them! Don't even like slacks. I got married in a Texas formal, cowboy boots, black jeans tux coat w /tails...
The previous hospital I worked at required slacks dress shirt and tie....luckily my current hospital I wear golf pants and a polo...look like I'm on the PGA tour...

Funerals and weddings. That's it, period.
I don't even "do" ties for the most part...
Ben Franklin had a quote that roughly went something like "there's something inherently illogical
with tying a piece of cloth tightly around one's own neck", said in the day when lynchings were quite
the rage.

Fascinating character, that Ben - and from what I've read, dead on the money most of the time.

Back in the day I did the Miami Vice look; Hawaiian shirt under a white cotton jacket, white linen pants or faded jeans. Dark glasses. I looked good.
Funny thing was at that time beer was my drug. When I was into coke and guns I wore blue jeans and a tee shirt...
But back to the original thread: I don’t like suits. They are expensive, and I seldom need one. But there are times that you do need one so I got a beauty.
My previous suit was nice, it was around $800. It was starting to look dated, though.
A friend suggested a upscale used clothing place in Edmonton. It was run by a nice older lady that knew what worked, and she “got” me. She didn’t get all pissy when I said that I didn’t want to look like the bride on a gay wedding cake. She fixed me up with a freakin’ AWESOME suit for around $600. Best suit I’ve ever had. I’ve worn it twice.

I used to have to wear a tie,(no jacket), when I was in management. Thank god they dropped it after a few years. I hate dress pants so I substituted Wrangler Wrancher dress jeans with a wide belt and a Mopar, Western or Beer belt buckle. I also have a wide, chrome plated Harley Chain belt. It doubles as a weapon, Lol. I also hate conventional dress shirts so I wore western or casual shirts. I always tried to wear a wild tie, cartoon, paisley or flourescent colors, etc.... The best outfit I had last time I wore one was at a wedding and I had a light weight kacki sport coat with a camo tie and snub toe harness strap boots (which I have in several colors, Black, Brown and Tan). I even still have a pair of dark brown suede boots from 1973. Got lots of compliments, but of course, most of us were loaded so I'm not sure if they were sincere or poking fun. Didn't care, that's my style.
:D

once in a while I do this when my daughter brings her friends over to the lodge for a swim. I walk out in my don johnson jacket and watch her run and hide!my wife usually unable to get off the floor laughing!
Wayne you look like the guy who sold those B's new!lmao

if you see me in a suit somebodies dead!

I had to wear ties and suits/sport jacket, etc from around 1978 to 1998 before biz casual became a deal. It went from huge lapels/collars and wide ties back to thinner ones. I had a few Mannix sport coats, lol. I've worn a tie maybe 5 times since then. I have around 70 of them hanging in the back of the closet I have to dump someday...

If you look good you feel good. If you dress like a slob people will see you and treat you as a slob.
You are right but you don't need a suit and tie to look good. I'm one of those guys that could care less what others think of me or how I dress. I'm no slob but I'm also not a suit man, blue jeans and a t-shirt is my thing. When my days end I've made it clear don't put me in a suit or I will haunt you forever!

I have 8 or 10 muscle cars and hot rods but only one suit. Bought it a few sizes up before my wedding to I could be buried in it. Didn't wear it to the wedding. Did drive the 66 Coronet 500 convertible lol.

Clothing and accessories are considered misappropriated automotive funds in this household.

I guess some of you city boys are a little more "metro" than us gritty country boys. Glad you feel fabulous lolol. To each his own : D

I wore one everyday years ago , now it's Funerals and weddings. Now I have a collection of western boots! Me on bath day, Once a month or so!!!
