Do you like to wear a suit?

I have to wear them for work on occasion - trade shows and such. Most of the time a sport coat and slacks or a golf shirt and slacks will suffice thankfully for business travel. While I don't absolutely hate suits, I'm much more of a t-shirt, shorts, and flip-flops kind of guy.
 
Don’t know how people wore suits/ties in the old days for every occasion even when it was 90 out and the women too, in full length dresses. Go to a ballgame? Suit and fedora. Yep, Ozzie and Ward, wore ties and cardigans to cut the lawn. Made a joke once about ties: “Honey I have to take a ****; should I wear my stripe or polka-dot tie?”
 
Well I on the other hand used to wear one at all times when I was in the Insurance business and working in the Big City/Chi-town and then when I relocated to CA. Spent a boat load on them and shirts, ties, and foot ware. Looked sharp and pressed. Liked my shirts laundered and lightly starched on a hanger when I had the cleaners do them. After leaving the business and focusing on my AF flying career, the only suit I would wear was my Class A's and an occasional tie with either a short or long sleeved uniform shirt. Had the required ornaments and fruit salad as well. Still kept a bunch of my regular suits and such if needed but for the most, I never actually wore a suit until I retired from the AF and went out job hunting for interviews. That was the last time I ever wore one. Got rid of them all but kept all my tie collection and good shoes. Why I don't rightly know? Now the only suit I have left is my uniform. Always liked to look sharp and dressed to the nine's but for the most part now, it is all casual loose and comfort type clothing. I actually felt so restricted when I was wearing them that after I stopped, I have to wonder what made me so finicky about my looks and style. Hell!! I know that I have a couple, Last time had one on was 21 years ago. Met a girl the year before, knew she was defective - as I asked her if she would and she said yes. So in 2001 we married, and that's the last time I remember wearing it, but just while we read our "RULES" to each other!

I have not worn a tie since my BILs wedding. A suit? I have never actually owned one. I also did the Miami Vice look for awhile.
The only time a man has ever held my cock was in a Doctors office. The guy had a white coat anyways!
 
The large mfg company I worked for required salaried employees to wear a tie back when. I spent half the time or more in the shop and skanked ties and dress shirts with oil and grease...luckily not getting it caught in a machine. Later when i took an exec position at an ins co, the deal was dressing nicer and spent cash on nicer duds, getting my shirts laundered. My wife hated ironing and worked FT and found I hated ironing too. Lost art as my mother would even iron my dad's handkerchiefs!
A lot of those ties were pricy, not K-Mart brand, and can't sell 'em for two bucks in fleabay. **** 40-50 bucks for a new tie? Did sell some of the art deco ones that were popular for a time; some of them looked like the ties my grandfather wore in the 30's. Now my daughter says she'll take 'em to make a quilt. This should be interesting..

I have often wondered that myself.

But remember that prior to the 1980's or thereabouts, people were not so 'large' from eating out and fast foods all the time like they are today. Look at all the movies from 40-50 years ago....people were thinner, and therefore probably glad of the extra clothing that a suit with long sleeves provided.

Nowadays, with people sweating profusely after minimal exercise, they are glad of a simple tee-shirt and shorts.

That, and some people just don't give a **** about personal pride in their looks and well-being. :rolleyes:
 
I used to wear suits. Required for Court. I liked getting dressed up for Church. Nowadays, even pastors wear jeans and an untucked shirt.

Anyone else rent a tuxedo with bell bottoms to go with the platform shoes for a wedding back in the day?

I refuse to wear suits when I can.

Any time I have worked for someone else (last 35 years) I have to wear a uniform.
Only time I wear suits is for very formal weddings and court appearances.
I own one suit, that is it.
So to be clear; I don't like, and have never liked, wearing suits.
 
Like wearing a good fitting suit.

Wearing a suit that doesn't fit right is horrible.

Wearing the right shoes is important
