Govier White Book question

That number is probably what appears in the 1968 factory parts manual. My 67 coronet has the 2580915 motor in it, which according to Galen's list is the correct one. It is dated perfectly for my car. That number is not listed in my 67 parts manual, but 2808801 is, which is listed as parts on the above list. Sometimes parts book numbers and assembly line numbers differ.

It means the number of the part that is listed in the parts manual, that the parts person would order, which could be slightly different from the part that was original to your car, but serves the same purpose.

If that is the correct answer, shouldn’t then every part number have either a different part number or “parts “ in that column? In other words what does it mean when there is nothing in the stamp # column?

I disagree with M-code. Early on as stated 30 years ago Galen was probably an honest man and did a lot for this hobby. But money and greed took over. He has taken a lot of people for a lot of cash, his name doesn't hold the weight it once did. No need to drag him through the mud any further. Just beware if you plan on using his services.

Thanks for your response.

First off I would not take everything in the white books as being 100% accurate. This is my best guess based on the parts book I have. If there is nothing in the stamp column,or if it is the same number, then that is the number that will be in the parts book. I can't explain why he has some stamped numbers as being different from the part number. As I mentioned my 2580915 motor has that number stamped into it and not the number he has in the stamp column.

Think Galen went off the rails when his wife died. Met him in the 80's at a NeHOA meet, he was looking my car over. Seemed to be an OK guy but a half hour meeting doesn't say much.

True that.
