The shop celebrates its 16th year in business on May 31 all thanks to you! :usflag:

I've been holding off on a big decision for quite awhile now in hopes it wouldn't become necessary.

Like most friends though, it's increasingly tough to keep up with ever-rising costs while earnings remain at the 2018 rate.

Effective June 1, Phoenix Specialty Coatings' hourly rate is going up by 20%. The increase will NOT affect jobs currently in line but will apply to all jobs arriving on or after that date. Box them up and get them here soon!

I'm truly sorry and wish it hadn't come to this. Please understand it was a hard choice to make, especially when a recession is likely looming.

It's either this, close my doors, apply for food stamps or go back to working for lawyers. (Law firms were always more lucrative in terms of money ... but they couldn't hold a candle to the personal satisfaction that accompanies working with all of YOU.)

Thanks in advance for your understanding.

You need to raise your rates to be profitable. Remember profit is not a dirty word. I have this talk with my colleagues have been discussing the rising cost of fuel and have been trying to figure a fair way to keep the fuel at a break even price raise.

Nothing shocking; I recall a few clients (short-term relationships) who thought I was operating a charitable organization..

If you want to stay in business, you have to be profitable! Pure and simple! ruffcut

Don't feel too bad about raising your charges Leanna. I raised my rates at the end of last year, and I am busier than before. :D

Your workmanship is your business, and your quality is a rare thing these days.

No need to apologize. You have to raise your rates so your business can survive. The price of everything has increased. I am surprised that you didn’t do it sooner.

You're only doing what you need to do
good luck in the coming months & years
hopefully profitable too...

A wise old man told me one time, Do what you love to do then figure out how to make a living off of it.

I’ve been raising my rates by $50 every year for the last 4 years and have more business than ever before. One client said that the higher rates reflect the higher value of my services.
