Original ground cable from the intake to the battery gets warm/hot when starting the engine. I did clean the contact area. Any suggestions on what's going on?
thanks
thanks
Agreed. I have had that situation with excessive cranking and also with charging the battery when it’s real low.Depending how long you are cranking it could be totally normal.

He did say original ground cableSounds like a defective cable...
Many are sourced from China and are total junk...
Try another cable..
Just my $0.02... ;)
But was does original mean..He did say original ground cable
It's a survivor with a stock engine, block cast in 1965.It is a bad practice to charge a battery with the electrical system ( battery cables) still connected. Any surge can cause damage to electrical components.
You didn't say anything about the engine or modifications done to it. A normal, properly tuned engine should start immediately when you turn the key. Cranking the engine cause a huge load on the battery. Re-check all electrical connections.
I'm going to clean the contacts one more time. If it doesn't work I'll replace it.and? did you figure it out?
That's a thought. Battery is a year old.Bad cell in the battery?
This could be the reason.Depending how long you are cranking it could be totally normal.
I'm wondering being it's original on a 68 survivior. Cable still looks good.Negative cable probably, internal corrosion?
