What did you do today....other than work on your car!?

Spent the afternoon working on a model car

It wasn't bad. It clearly had some nods to the Gen 2 Charger. I didn't fall deeply in love with it but I didn't dislike it either. It was better looking than most electric coupes or sedans. Infinity also had a car that looked rather sharp.

No biggie.....these days I don't sit back and watch them anymore but instead just have it on out in the shop while I'm doing things.
I've been streaming old NASCAR races from the 70s, 80s and 90s for my project background noise. There's a boatload of them and they are more entertaining to watch than today's races when you do watch. Plus the drivers are guys I watched in my youth. I think I've watched Dale win the Daytona 500 three times now (he one it once in 2000).

Nice Nova. :poke:  j/k

I spent the last 4 days at what I would call the best car festival/show in this country. Drove about 5 hours south to the New Plymouth Americarna festival. We weren't entered with vehicles as such, but we had a good look, and are gearing up for the event next year. Stayed just out of town with my bud Cliff's sister and her husband. Really nice people, and they are local 'celebrities' also. We managed to meet a lot of really nice people, and the cars were able to cruise uninhibited all night until they opened the streets up again at 9:30pm.

Also caught up with my buddy John with his 1974 AMC Javelin 401 ....he had the Californian seller of the car riding shotgun all weekend. Yep, John and Rick made quite a splash on all the local papers and were interviewed a couple of times. Rick was a really cool guy to talk with and he was blown away by the sheer size of the festival and the activities on the menu. I suspect he might be back next year......lol

Submit and I went on a 3 mile walk yesterday around the neighborhood and took a few plastic grocery bags with us to pick up the litter. We filled two bags with trash and one with returnable beer cans and bottles.

I do that when the weather is nice. But not at -3F.
Not as bad as it use too be but still way too many people littering. Even up here in the great white north.
Not so great anymore. Just saying.

Furnace tech today. Fan kept dropping out of full to low... back to high.. back to low. I could switch it back to auto and then kick it onto high and it would last a day. Starting getting worse last night so today I stole two fan relays off of a board I took out in 2012, that wouldn't fire the burner unless I tapped it, and soldered them into the current control board. Installed it about 3 hours ago... Wife hasn't yelled through the intercom to the shop at me yet. . so hope we're good!

I bent up some spare fertilizer tubes for my son’s corn planter. Spring is coming!

Moved the box trailer forward some today....just a sheet of plywood and a sheet of foam insulation is all that needs to be removed from the hauler but it was way too windy to move them today so hopefully, tomorrow. The 64 Dart is supposed to be here before noon time tomorrow....bout time! The Dart will be housed in the hauler for the time being. Used the beater beast Dakota to move it but it did it even though the tongue was dragging the ground. Only needed it to move forward about 3 feet. I've used the Dak for moving it before....just can't try to go down the road with it.

Boated this morning......I mean voted....then went to Lowe's to get some ant killer and stopped by the credit union on the way home. Also dumped off about 20 lbs of dead batteries while at Lowes. The old Dart was low on gas and filled up 10 gallons worth of gas cans and dumped them into the Dart. It doesn't seem to like a full tank as it was leaking once 8 gallons when in but pulled out a gallon or so and it quit leaking. Another 'to do' on the list but thinking it might be the fill tube is the problem as it has a new tank and figured it would have leaked sooner if it had been the sender/pickup gasket. About to clean off the carport behind the shop as it's full of crap and debris after being so windy yesterday and that's where the Dart is sitting right now. Getting ready to put it on jack stands to inspect the underside and try to see where the leak is and also adjust the clutch. It only has about 1/2" of free play in the pedal.

First drive for the Dart?

Yup....at least for more than 100 feet when I backed it off the trailer this past Wednesday and parked it under the shop carport that's behind the shop. Did drive it about a mile or so on the easement behind my place about an hour ago. Runs good except for the pump squirrter in the carb isn't working.

Technically I didn’t work on the car. I dropped off the rear “clip” off to the sand blasters before we start putting Humpty Dumpty back together again.

That is one of the best feelings ever, isn't it?

Looking forward to seeing it in the "where did you and your car go today" thread.

Dang carb squirter isn't working and the choke pull off isn't either so that together makes things a bit more difficult. Starts up good with the choke closed but runs like crap when it doesn't open up after starting. I can drive it without the squirter working ok with the choke open after dumping some gas down the throat but don't feel like doing that every time I want to drive it. I've had lots of cars where the choke wasn't working and had no problem getting them started (unless the weather was real cold) but they all had good squirters. Gotta have that working if the choke isn't.....and my butt ran out of gas before I got it up on stands. And yeah, felt good to drive an old car again!!
