What did you do today....other than work on your car!?

Drove nearly 700 miles to PA and back yesterday to pick up this cute little thing. Nasty stop and go traffic jams added about 3 hours to the trip.

Must be a Pontiac ....455  Hopefully that does the trick for you - is that for both properties - home and lakeside holiday home?

Said good bye to a good friend tonight. Met Ted in 1991 when I was doing flight school training. He was the AME that looked after the school aircraft and there after all of mine that required an inspectors signature in the logs. We started the local RAA / COPA group together in 1993. He managed to get a good life span in, loved his grandkids and they kept him going. Alzheimers took hold of him about 3 years ago, last 2 years in a home unfortunately.

Sorry for your loss.

Our usual morning "walk the dogs" has the Signs of Spring in the Air. Yesterday was the Annual Fishing Derby, and Opening Day for the Little Leagues, at our Town Park. Great Day for Both ! The fish were biting, and the Bats were Clanging ! Saw a Nice Inside the Fence Home Run, as we rounded the finish to our walk !!!

Found this section of closet maid shelving on the side of the road.
It was long enough to cut off the bent end and replace the section above our washer and dryer that, for some reason, the builder decided to leave about 20" short.
Now we have a place to store paper towel "6 packs" and a few other things.

Also found this at thrift.
Actually longer and in better shape than the mate I already had.

Used them to clamp the shelf to the top of the fan, so I could cut it to length.

Then-

Second time installing concealed hinges.
Kreg jig works, but is a bit squirrely, and laborious after a few.
We got 34 to do.

So I mounted the table I made last time to the "small" drill press and put on a new stop/fence.

Now all I gotta do is measure the distance from the top/bottom and then apply moderate pressure.
MUCH less fatiguing.

Did the single door last weekend.
Made sure it was OK centered and verified the hinge offset.

Yesterday, did the doubles.
learned how to adjust the hinges to make the center gap right and get them square with each other.

Next weekend, the doubles over the stove.
Trying to only introduce one new concept per work session.
The "face" in that area doesn't extend into the cabinet, so the "standard" hinges don't work.
Had to get special "no face" hinges.
Over the fridge, one has it and one doesn't.
That'll be fun.

Temporarily fixed the heating element in my old

ķenmore dryer. Thanks youtube.! I have a new element on order. And if you leave your dryer running for several hours with a burned-out element it will dry. And yes, this element is toast!

What, no demonstration?
I only get in that thing under orders! it's pretty damn uncomfortable for me, if you look at the bright side of getting old it only needs a gallon of water to fill when she's in there! lmao

Also discovered, after all this time...that the "exhaust vent" for the range hood.....

.....is a fake!

Nothing in that 12" cube but the power wires for the fan/light.

Top is solid with only a 1/2" hole WTF???

Why ruin the cabinet functionality by putting that in there?

We're going to get a "low profile" microwave for that spot.

...and knock that sham "vent" block off out to gain storage.

Had the skin doctor remove the "lump" that was on the top of my thumb, on my right hand, this morning, over at the Mather VA Hospital.
Stitches come out in two weeks.
Bandaged up like this only for a day or two.
No heavy duty work for about two weeks.
Lower control arm rebuilding will just be waiting.

Edit.
Coming along nicely.
What i look like now, with a regular type bandage over the wound.

Edit #2
What the wound looks like, under the bandage.
