FABO

Lot's of great people over there. A different crowd though. More beginners in the car hobby. Not everyone can afford to start out with a 68 Charger to build. Beginners on a limited budget find a 64 Valiant for a few thousand and go from there.

I paid under $100 for several 68 to 70 Chargers! Those were the days! Unfortunately even A bodies are getting expensive. My friends son told me at Carlisle last year,he is priced out of this hobby,so I gave him a 71 Charger roller last year.

Would a LS swap in a Duster get any conversation going over there ?
 :drinks:

I wish I would’ve seen this thread yesterday. I posted some info I found on a thread about LA engine oil galley plugs that Kern Dog started and I also need info on. What I got was a “brutal and abrasive” response. I guess that’s normal for FABO. So I am just going to stick with the mellow guys!!! Thanks everyone on FBBO for us older guys don’t need the angry drama!!
I agree with abrasive responses over there. Few off them on there need a break and a hug.

In their defense they are stuck with A bodies. Its all downhill from there!
I started out with a 65 Dart and went to a 69 Road Runner. Then a 73 Challenger or two and back to the B Bodies, back when you could buy a nice 4 year old car for $1000. But, that was a lot of money to me when I was on my own and 20 years old.

All kidding aside,I wouldn't mind adding a 71 340 Demon or Duster to my stable!

I always wanted a Demon but my Swinger came up for sale and I pulled the trigger on that. No regrets. It's going to be hard to see my 66 go but I have been looking at 64 Polara's for a long time now. I know it will be going to a good home and I am excited to see the next steps he takes it to.

I wouldn't mind a 67-69 GTS 383 4 speed
or another 68 Formula-S Fastback Barracuda 383 4 speed
like I inherited from my great uncle (wish I would have kept way longer)
there was a good reason for me selling it, just don't remember what it was...
Had a few Demons & Dusters, 2 Barracudas, both 68s

I had a roomy back in the later 80's, in Concord Ca. that had a
65 Dart GT we did a 440/727tf swap,
bigger Racer Brown 0.590" SFT/mushroom cam
hand ported 906s/unshrouded bowls, garage heads
& N2O the crap out of it,
cool lil' cars
with lil' to no brakes, dinky 9" drum brakes, hold on brother
fender-well headers, that tires would hit, at full lock
not enough room under the hood for a good hi-rise
& Holley to clear w/air-cleaner
so we cut a hole in the hood, to put a Harwood Hemi scoop on it...
Put a different 8-3/4" in it, don't remember form what,
& some 4.30:1 gears, I had laying around,
on some smallish 60's tires/old polished Ansen (?) 14" diam. slots,
no room for big wheels or tires at all...
That motor would scream for help...

I think he said he paid like $150 for it, clean all white 65 GT
I wouldn't cut that car today, it was too nice, a real grammas cars,
she rarely drove to like the market a couple blocks from her house weekly
with those 'clear plastic covers' over the cloth seats & all, nice lil' 273 v8 auto
Back then it was just an old used car...

That was a fun lil' car, I never drove it
but won some money with it...
People underestimated that car a lot...

I venture over there often. Never know what you might find in the classifieds. Have not owned an A-Body in 13 years? Found my latest over there. Excited to get it and drive it. So well balanced hot rods.

Hmm, am I on the wrong page?

Hey, we have two A bodies! No issues with, and/or the nonsense of which is better. That said, the "comradery" is just so different on A bodies that it makes you question why you're there!
