My carb has separated from the case . You can wiggle it and it has about a 1/16 inch movement from the base of the carb. Not the manifold, but the carb has separated. I was driving home and the car began to run like ****.. Any guess what happened. I have never seen this before.

Does this carb have the base held on by screws? This will happen, the gasket shrinks and now it's loose. Try taking it off, flip it over and snug up the screws. Usually works.

Time to pull it off the car and get a proper look at it. Probably not a good idea to "just tighten the screws" even if you could get away with that.

Only screws I see are the top plate to the body. No screws above where it's apart.. Maybe internal ?
Take the carb off and flip it over you will see the screws. Not uncommon to happen. Most of the time just tightening the screws will fix it.

I'll pop it off tomorrow. Wouldn't think they could loosen, unless they're above the intake. Should probably rebuild it anyway, been on there a long time.

Looks like you wedged a screwdriver in there. It possible that doing that ruined the gasket. Try r and r on the carb and tighten the screws. Costs nothing to try.

You must of not worked on two many cars with carburetors. Very common on just about any carb that the base is screwed to the bowl.

Been around them a long time, never seen one separate like that on the engine. It's a first for me.:thankyou:

GM 2 barrels were really bad about getting loose. Rebuild and tap choke horn to correct over tightening air cleaner. Easy money, back then. About 10 percent failure rate.
