My B-body fuel gage has been out for last 3 years at least. Yes, its been a lower priority. But got some of the engine bay work done. And nothing that has anything to do with fuel, and/or fuel tank. I ran car out of gas in my driveway. I pushed it into garage. Put in 1 gal from can. Then drove to station and put in 3/4 tank.

The fuel gage started working. And it appears to be accurate. I have a new fuel sending unit. And was going to replace, but today? I cannot get to fail.

Cracked float. No fuel so it drained and then floated again when you got gas will sink again in time. Hope I'm wrong ...

Mine quit after sitting through the winter last year. Figured the float filled up.

I think you might be right. Does explain. Especially if fails again.

Use the new float from your replacement sender and reuse the original sender if you want it to be accurate. I did the same thing.

Ok. I went out driving alittle harder than normal. I was out on the interstate and ran into a Challenger 6.4 scat pact on the freeway. So of course we did a punch. I flapped it down to 3rd. Up to about 90. Then into 4th. He jumped out to about a car maybe 1 1/2 Length lead. Then I started to reel him back a bit before we saw traffic about 1/4 mile ahead. We stopped our nonsense.

We pulled into a station. And he came out smiling ear to ear. I thought he was going to boast of his better performance. But no. He right away said. "Your old girl was hauling ***!" Expecting me to be far back. I explained with the 3.54:1 Dana rear and 28" rear tire? She is a highway star! But at a dead stop race she would really stand no chance. He smiled and said. "We weren't at a dead stop."
We exchanged # and I think I made a new friend.

P.S. fuel gauge still working. And it reflected 1/4 tank loss from my little highway excursion. Lol.

I love this car. More than any other. The more I rub? The more love it gives. I've had SO many others that were opposite. You rub something? And two more things bleed.
