Limp or Hard?

Thick cut: 5 all day
Thin stuff: 4, maybe 4.5 with any super fatty parts probably being shared with my pets :)

I don't like bacon to crumble, but I don't want to chew it like gum either. It should have a nice bite and some remaining integrity no matter how thick it is cut, but with thicker cuts closer to the edge of "breaking" vs bending.

My favorite is 3,4,5 and 6. Second would be 2.

No Black Bear Diners, no Cracker Barrels, no Waffle House and no Bobby E's in IL. Gawd I hate this state. :cursin:
When I worked in the Chicago area, I was fortunate to be able to access Waffle House when I visited our southern terminals. When I moved back east, there were enough old school mom and pop diners still in operation to keep me going.

4.5 if frying to eat then. Oven frying 5/6, I use a large pan lined with HD foil. 405 degrees for 13 and a half minutes take them out, flip them another 9 mins but watch them at 8 mins could run 9.5 mins. Put on paper towel. They'll crumble into pieces, I store whole in a plastic bag, break them and drop an egg on them.

I used to micowave mine, but switched to cooking it in the oven several years ago. Once you oven cook you'll never go back.

I totally agree, but my wife has zero tolerance for the residue. The microwave process is the only way she will allow bacon in the house. After 48 years of marriage, and seven GTXs, I've learned to pick my battles carefully.

4 on a sandwich, 5 in a blood mary, 6 when everyone slept in at the cabin and I made breakfast by myself.

LOL, I got residual when I microwaved and used a half roll of paper towels to try and contain it to boot.

I also love cooking bacon on the grill outside. Love using natural hardwood charcoal in it. That's when I sprinkle the brown sugar on it.

Smoked Brown Sugar Bacon has to be one of the best things you can do with pork.

4 for me. My wife likes it closer to burnt so 5 or 6. I pan fry it and then fry eggs sunny side up in the bacon grease. Yum! We have that for breakfast most Sundays.
