Hello to all,I got a 1968 383 with a 6 mos since rebuild of my Carter Avs 4bbl,ran perfect, started this hissing sound, too much air induction, maybe the butterflies are stuck open???,thanks for any suggestions.
Then why is it almost closed? Does it ever fully open?no,its been set accurately,,thanks
Yes I will check the choke, thanksFirst thing is your choke is a bit strong.
yes it will fully open,I seen it open yesterday from the ride, still was hissing, this vid is from this morning cold start,I checked base plate bolts also, thanks againThen why is it almost closed? Does it ever fully open?
yes new base gasket.I will second the choke comment....if that engine is warm....your choke is all wrong.
For the whistling....start removing hoses 1 by one and capping the input. That will rule out any hoses. Don't forget to do the choke pull off diaphragm hose.
Did you change a base gasket?
Use a stethoscope to pinpoint the noise if the above does not work. Pay attention to the throttle shafts where they go into the carb. Place scope there.
Slightly re-tighten the carb bolts to see if a change.
