I got my '05 KTM out into the woods today, and had a great ride ! 3 laps on the Woods course, about 24 miles, and NO Major Falls ! I need to get a Go-Pro helmet cam, so I can remember these Good Days !!!

Starting the baked potatoes, and portobello mushrooms on the regular grill. Happy Labor day weekend everyone.

This Labor day weekend the Pick-N-Pull wrecking yards are having a 40% off sale.
So Friday, i decided to go up to the Reno-Sparks, Nevada, yard.
Sunday, i went down to the San Jose, California yard.
Each Pick-N-Pull is a 130 mile drive for me, in each direction.
Got parts off 1973 and 1976 Dodge Darts.
Gave me something to do, as nothing much of anything else was going on, around here.
For a 72 year old man, I'm pretty much surprised, that I'm still able to do what i do at these wrecking yards.
Wonder how much longer in my old age, all this is going to last?
I think i take care on myself, as i walk three miles a day around my neighborhood, sometimes 4, or even 5, miles, and stay in the 170-175 pound range, for a 5' 11" inch guy.
But ya never know, just how health can be treating you.

I installed our new clothes washer and dryer pair yesterday. Dryer vent is a PIA, because of the confines of our laundry closet. Not much #@&%$, and Brownie Points from Wifey!

About to pull my diesel out of the shop so I can get access to the tire rack that's in the rafters above it. And I mean literally pull it out since it's now in a no start mode. Fired right up not all that long ago and now all it does is turn over. Thinking the fuel shutoff relay might be bad or either the solenoid is bad. Anyways, the tires in the rafters hopefully will fit the trailer or I'm buying a set of used ones.

Dug up one of three dwarf banana trees and took it to my wife's workplace to trade for a large pot.

Sprayed my silver maples - again - to try and kill these ^}€×^=|¢®£!! lantern flies.

They've already killed one in my backyard.

I'll probably plant tulip poplars between each of the maples; nothing seems to want to kill them....

What are you using for spray?

My wife and I spent the weekend with family on a lake in the Poconos and came across these out on the lake…

Yep, bad here also. Many birds and other insects like Praying Mantis are starting to develop a taste for them.

Soap, or water soluble oils like citrus oil, coat the bugs and then they suffocate. Insects breathe through their exoskeleton's. You could also put in some essential oils to the mix which are death to bugs. Clove, garlic, rosemary, mints, lavender etc. Having soap, like dish wash soap] Dawn] in the mix holds it to the bugs for extra kill. Smells good too.
Picked about 2/3rds of our apples today. This is the second year of production for the little guy. Last year was maybe 6-8 apples. This year it went crazy. There were quite a few that I culled out due to size and other issues. On my morning walks with the dogs, there is a pair of horses at about the halfway point. They'll be getting some of the culls. Not very many of the ones I kept are big, but I'm ok as this was its second year. The Peach lost all of its load earlier this year due to Peach Leaf Curl. I have to wait till the leaves fall off before I can spray it with a copper and sulfur based solution according to what I read.
On the bug sprays, I only use botanical stuff on our production tree's and berries. I found that I had a stash of Essentia, which is an essential oil concentrate, from my old pest control job days. Since its several years old but still has its aroma, I mix it double strength with a squirt of Dawn in it.

Homebrew spray of dish soap and water. We shall see. Supposedly if they ingest the soap, they suffocate on it or something.
I do the same....and so far haven't had to add anything else into the mix unless it's just a bit more soap.
