I figured out how to take the inner sleeve out, so now I can clean and paint it. But what about taking off this collar? It’s got allot of damage and wouldn’t mind trying to find another.

Look down. The inside of it from the steering wheel side. I think there are 5 5/16” hex screws holding it to the shaft housing.

They are for sale. I found mine wasn't hard to get the bearings off without a puller.
I know there was a spring clip, and the bearing gave me problems coming out. I'm hoping I can get a better collar to replace that broken one. But it makes me wonder, how the hell did someone break that, like, what the hell were you trying to do?

It's pot metal. Maybe someone dropped it on a hard surface or attempted to tap it off using a hammer.

Can I use the column shift lower bearing and the retainer for my console shift steering column? It looks like the only difference is the column shift is held in with two screws and the console shift has no screws holding it.
