Yay, trunk surprise

There are 2 sliding pin latches with a tapered end that are spring loaded.
I've never tried it but I think you can just slide a putty knife or something and attempt to push them downward.
I'll take a look this evening at mine but I think it should be pretty easy.
Try hitting the lock inside with some penetrating oil.
Mine didn't want to turn at Carlisle around 2013.
I just put a little motor oil on my key and inserted and removed it a few times.
It's worked like a jeweled watch ever since then.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. The key turns but it never really engages, and I don't want to break the key off. ,

Yes, and like mentioned previously, spray with a type of oil inside and then in the lock outside.

Remove the rear seat. You can get to the lock with a long flat blade screwdriver and insert it into the lock from the backside, then twist and open. Hopefully you have long enough arms and screwdriver.
I think it's a Charger Jerry, so a little different than a regular sedan.
yeah on the 67 it should be easy to access from inside since the rear seats fold down.

It's not the typical rear seat in these. They fold down but probably not like you're thinking. And the back panel folds down from the trunk side. It's definitely a puzzle.

In high school I had a 67 Belvedere. The rear seat back was modified to hang on the upper hooks only. We would sneak people in to the drive in movie in the trunk. Plenty easy to crawl thru once the seat back is out.

In 2006 we were at the at the TDC Meet in Aurora Missouri. Guy locked his keys in the trunk of their 66 Charger.
Planning on punching the lock set out.
I showed him how to use a thin bladed screwdriver and maybe I had a putty knife.
Find one of the latches, they are like a door latch.
Keep working the latch downward until it releases.
Slide something in there to stop it from engaging. Or you might be able to push the panel back.
Repeat on the other side.
Then you can get to the back of trunk latch and open it with a screwdriver.

Was the cross bracing cut out or were they really skinny??
I just went out and looked at mine.
I'm not as optimistic as I was.
At least on mine from the inside the latch is up behind the rear window sheet metal.
I laid out some painters tape and took pictures of where they are located.
Let me know if you need anything else. I'm hoping to get it in storage on Saturday.

Last resort if nothing else works.......
Could be that the rod between the lock and latch fell off so when you turn it, it won't pop the latch.
If you drill a hole through the lock, you can stick a long screwdriver through the hole, into the little slot of the latch (verticle slot in this pic) and turn it. Pops it right open.

Fold down the back seats. Then find the latches.
Sam69 posting shows the assembly for non Charger 66-7 b bodies. Won’t work with 66-7 Chargers. They are unique.
Study the latches carefully.
Very similar to getting your house door latch open when your keys are locked in the house.
Wish you well. (PPR) persistence paralyzes resistance).
Fold down the back seats. Then find the latches.
