Unbelievable .... Some people have no shame

There is a segment of society that have figured out the methods of scamming in so many different ways. It is basically their "way of life". Whether it's governmental, businesses, they have their plan to manipulate it.

and no one dare call them on it for fear of being labled "racist"

Friend of mine's ex-husband had a law degree. Never passed the bar, never even signed up to take the bar. He wanted a law degree to "legally fleece" (his terminology) federal, state, and local government. He did very well at it. Applied for various grants and won funds and provided nothing, approved for various disabilities, even sued two different Ponderosa franchises and settled out of court for $250,000. She ended up divorcing the leech (although admitted at first she was impressed with his capabilities to manipulate the systems).

Yes, there is no shame today.

I hate when I screw up when I order something wrong. When its my mistake I always tell them I screwed up. Unfortunately it seems that extremely rare to have a customer do that. Different topic but same result. My culvert washed out on my driveway in a big rain event. I ordered a premade concrete one, dug the hole to set the four parts in. They came set them in with crane. I stood below creek looking up at it and thought what the heck were you thinking when you had this dug out. It wasn’t even close to lining up with the creek normal flow. I called them they are a busy company I waited 2 months to get the tiling made. I told them my eyes must have been crossed when I marked it out. Lol After I had more ground removed they came right out and moved it for me for a fee of course. I wouldn’t expect them to not charge me for my mistake. I would not be able to take used stuff back without calling people out and telling them about it. If course then your out your job.

None of the stores or dealerships I worked at would take any returns if it was opened or used. Some of the repair shops we dealt with tried but we put it right back on them as they wouldn't accept any parts that had been opened. Several of them went elsewhere. No loss on our end as they were generally prima donna's anyway. Electrical items got inspected for signs of install, carb's[ there were many] got the sniff test.

A “legitimate” lawyer I worked for early in my career advised me to bulk up my billable hours. That was the first time I traded a desk for truck driving.

I used to know a woman who made it her way of life, would have a bunch of stuff to return to Walmart every couple of weeks to have enough money until the next paycheck.

This is loophole thievery. I knew someone who did this which I no longer associate with. Pure scum.

Some A holes don't miss a trick.
1 gallon of 5 -30 valvoline my brother bought at wally world along with 2 qts for a oil change.
The gallon had the foil seal missing and was full of you guessed it. Used oil.
To walmarts credit they did refund him.
I will not buy a gallon of oil or antifreeze now without pulling the lid.

My friend’s wife works at Costco and you would not believe the return scams people pull. Buying a new TV and returning the old one in the new box for a refund…bringing in worn out Kirkland socks (!) and getting new ones. People must feel like they deserve to work the system because they are owed something. I can’t imagine how else you could sleep at night being such a dirtbag.

sounds like my brother unfortunately. got sick of his b.s. the last election, long story short haven't talked to him since.

That's why Ponderosa isn't around any more.

I often buy either too much or occasionally the wrong item at my electrical supply shop. I only ever return stuff that I will never use as they are excellent on returns/credits. Like many other sparkies, I usually grab a little extra for jobs, and the suppliers know that.
But I would never dream of returning a used item or anything without its packaging in excellent resaleable condition.

Unlike the shameless ones who regularly send their guys back with cartons of switches and fittings that have either been rolling around in their vans, or even used, and mostly without packaging - or packaging that has been mangled. End of month is the time to witness this, as was the case on the last few days before Christmas. End of the tax year will be the next time. Some really tight asses out there.

Fortunately the Suppliers don't have to accept if the product is damaged or used in any way. And some cheeky sods also try and return stuff that they never bought there..... from rival suppliers. Invoice checking is swift. :)
