LCA Bushing help

I’m replacing all of the bushings and ball joints on my 70 Bee. I got the right side LCA off and found what looks to be a poly bushing. I was expecting a rubber one with sleeves. I can’t get the nut off of the pivot pin because the whole thing rotates and I don’t want to clamp on the pin and bugger it all up. Can I just buy new bushings without sleeves and put it all back together without removing the pin?

Clamp on the pin, what's the big deal - just file any burrs when you're done.

Or, clamp the sleeve area since it gets replaced anyway..

Someone couldn't figure out how to remove the sleeves lol....
Yes clamp the sleeve/ pin, remove both sleeves/ shells and put a proper factory bushing in

To help clarify, it looks like that pin still has an old inner sleeve pressed onto it.
So put a big vise grip or pipe wrench on it and remove.

Ok thanks, I’ll give it a go. I was able to get the left side nut off of the pin first try.
To get the sleeve out of the LCA, use the weld a washer on method?

There will be other opinions of course but yes, use that method.

I always used a cutting torch. Just quick heat the sleeve and hit the oxygen lever. Only the sleeve will melt.

In the picture they already did that
Touch it with an air impact and it'll fall out.

don't buy a moog lca bushing, they are manufactured wrong. I found pro forged bushings fit as designed

The right side sleeve came out easily with a chisel. The left side was fully intact so I'll have to do some work to get that one out. Both inner sleeves are stuck on the pins. Might try a dremel to get them off.

Don't cut all the way through... Typically I use a air chisel & put a groove along the long way, that displaces metal which loosens the sleeve, then use the chisel to catch the sleeve it will slide right off...

On the inner just weld a washer...

You can chisel the inner sleeve out. Scarring on the outer sleeve is okay and doesn’t hurt anything.
