BE AWARE OF NEWBIES WHO POST ADS!!!!!!!

I wouldn't buy from anyone that is a new member with no feedback. And If I do buy from others with a history here, and pay with Pay Pal, I DO NOT use Friends and Family. No bank transfers either. Strangers from other countries. Trust is something that is earned and not automatically given. Don't be stupid!
There, I edited my post. Strangers from other countries is better.

Yep, there's a couple abusing the rules here
exclusively selling/hawking parts, that aren't sponsors either...

Some of the parts are good or hard to find, but usually overpriced
but rules are rules or why have them

Go to the classifieds, almost all sections,
especially parts in any of the categories
& see the 1st usually 20 or the whole 1st page/s
or new posts or 'their bumps',
it's 2 or 3 people/specific members are behind them...

I doubt they sponsor the site either...
Using the members as a base for their operations, profits...

I have a 0 or NO rating at all,
I've been on here since 2008
I've given more away, then I've sold, I don't rarely advertise even...

I think the only thing I actually sold was a perfect Black Decore Package
Bench seat, with everything & belts included
that was out of my current 68 RR, to a fellow member, in the need
he & his son 'drove up here from the Bay Area, picked it up for $250'
I was well worth twice that....
I'll send people a PM/Priv. Convo with someone, if I see they need something,
I'm not using, willing to part with or sell & I want to make some room...
Many times for shipping cost only...
Or suggestions where to get something...

'Pay it forward', like the old dudes (in my youth) did for me
way back when, when I didn't have much & needed a lot...

I'm certainly not in the used or old overpriced 'rusted GOLD' take off parts business...

Carry On...

I don't mean to dis anybody because or their country of origin. It'smore a safety thing. First, shipping, as you know, can be a killer. Second, if I get screwed on a sale and you live in say Germany, who do I contact to press charges and get my money back? It's bad enough chasing someone down here in the states. That's why Pay Pal Goods and Services is a good thing. Usually, not always, you get your money back and they handle the fraud claim.

Just be smart and don't take risks. Other than banning a troublemaker, we can't help you.

Maybe a site “Anti-Scammer Checklist” could become a sticky or whatever it’s called. If there already is, well, never mind.

1. Date Joined?
2. Posts?
3. Are you being asked to contact an entity outside of the site?
4. Are you being rushed?
5. Is it incredibly cheap, too good to be true?
6. Won’t send new/ different photos of the part/car.
7. Do they live in C-A-N-A-D-A? Or worse yet C-A-L-I-F-O-R-N-I-A-?
8. Are the text messages written strangely?
9. Maybe use Google Lens or another ID service that could find examples of the exact picture for sale or displayed.
Is that how some of these scammers pictures get red flagged?
10. Finally or maybe Firstly, if something seems fishy post in the General Thread for advice.

Hey I used my Dick Tracy Jr. secret code scramble. You fellas are much more sophisticated than I anticipated.

I’m truly impressed!

Modesto. My stepdad had relatives there.
Modesto.... AKA Methdesto... AKA Molesto....
Honestly, it's not a bad place, two hours to the beach, two hours to be well up in the Sierras... But, as is true of most rural agricultural areas, we have more than our share of tweekers, stoners & homeless... Probably worse here cause we can't shoot them... Then again, I have access to a backhoe & lots of acreage...
