Ebay moron!

I've never had a problem with Van's, but that obviously doesn't mean they're perfect. I hate it when these kinds of posts show up because our list of competent suppliers seems to dwindle daily and it's almost always due to someone's shitty attitude during customer service. A rude attitude is a HUGE turn-off when buying a cup of coffee, when paying for expensive parts and shipping...it's a deal-breaker

I never had trouble with that guy so far but then again in 2 hours I could be there, maybe he gives better service if your close by. I did have trouble with anoughther seller who I bought a emblem from, dont remember the name. He shipped the 3 inch long item in a 8 by 12 inch box with absolutly no packing around the 45.oo emblem, just let it fly around in the box all the way here. I ripped him a new one over that stupidity, of course it was all someone elses problem because they supposedly packed it.

I've bought several items from them and never had an issue. Good to know about the horns though, I'll be needing one for my `68 soon.

I buy a lot from Ebay, maybe not as much as most but thanks. I don't know if your looking for an original one or one that replicates the original but this is supposed to sound like the real deal (see description in link) but doesn't look quite like it, you could paint it and get the decal from Year one and maybe make it work (decal).. Heres the difference in them and if this will work the link is below to take you there. There was someone else that was trying to paint one here at the site because i believe the 68 RR horn was black and then they changed it to violet if he sees this. Good luck.

do not by that horn from jc whitney!! if you are hoping just for the sound of a road runner horn, then that horn does not come close. i had a repop horn that i was satisfied with and then had a chance to hear an original horn. there was enough difference for me to go and find an original for myself and restore it and i could not be happier.

to be honest...i have never heard 2 roadrunner horns sound alike.....they sound similar....but not the same...( believe it or not....aside from being a class clown...im also a musician with perfect pitch)....that adjuster thingy ma jig on the roadrunner horns just dials in the sound...it dont change it,,,and if it does,,,it dont change it much.

I don't think I have ever dealt with Vans, but it seems as if if the part os right, then people are satisfied. It's when things go wrong that the trouble starts. Unfortunately, service is about how they behave when things go wrong, and how they fix a problem. Seems Vans fails every time when it really counts.

I've also bought a horn from them. I thought it was just me, not getting the thing to sound right. I bought a second one and it is really hard to turn the adjusting screw to get the right EEE sound. I also bought some small items from them and wanted to pay for them with one payment/bundle shipping. So I called him and paid over the phone with credit card. I left 3 positive feedbacks and it took him like a month to respond in kind. I had to email him like 4 times until he believed me. I think I will avoid this guy from now on.

i am usually the guy praising people on that a good job they have done....always giving "kudos" where due. i merely told the guy that i got another bad horn and that i was sending it back. i truly feel that his response to me was uncalled for. in his defense, i have ordered from him before and had no issues. not this time. i was put off by his arrogant persona that he displayed. ill let you guys know if he credits my paypal and well see how long that will take!

It wouldn't hurt your cause any to tell him that you have 7613 friends on this forum that are waiting to see how he handles things when his parts don't live up to expectaions. Any Tom, Dick or Harry can sell stuff and put the money in the bank...but customer service AFTER the sale is what most sellers and vendors lack these days.

The bottom of "forums" page shows how many registered users on this site. 7613 @ the moment....invite Mr. Van over to take a look at the poor publicity he is getting on this site, perhaps he'll change his tune.
Several members, myself included, have already stated that have been looking at his stuff, but will now look elsewhere.

thank you red and the rest of you guys for sticking with me on this. i am waiting for him to show up here because NO DOUBT this will get back to him and it will either help me or hurt me.
if he dont refund my account in a week ...i do believe i will invite him here and see the business he will be losing because he is an ***-CLOWN. it takes so much more energy to be nasty than it does to be accomodating.....after all...WE keep him in business !

thank you all once again!

attitude....?

SOOoooooooo..... It's ok to call him names and be rude, but not ok for him to respond in a like manner.....? I agree it's not good business, but, if you can't take it then don't dish it out.

I've been buying from Vans for several years, both on line and in person at shows and swap meets. Nothing but upstanding parts and service.

sooooooooooooooooo........why dont ya read the whole post before you say stupid ****......i got 6 dudes on here sayin they have had bad dealings with VANS......and more saying they wont buy from him. he drew first RUDE blood skippy.....not me,,,,im only guilty of giving that idiot my money!

I checked out his Ebay score and almost every one of his negatives says the same thing "RUDE" must be some kind of arrogance or distrust overall going on with him. Who knows. It took a minute but he has his terms for his items on his store page and NOT on each item like it should be, not everyone is going to go to his store to look. But here it is you decide -

Sorry bout your bad experience but personally I have dealt with them on 4 occasions and have nothing but good things to say. I sure do know though that a bad time with someone can sour a person on anyone. Good luck, Dave

A tip on beep beep horns.

Troubles with vendors aside, if you need a horn that sounds right and not worried about looks. Try a 12v version of the old Willys jeep horn. I've had old jeeps for years and the horns sound the same as the ones on my road runners. Just a thought.

Just wondering how this all shook out...finished yet? Get any satisfaction?

Thankfully, I found another vendor for the parts I was going to get from Vans. Told the other guy I didn't want to buy from Vans and why. Also told him although his parts were more expensive I'd still buy from him if he could come down a little, which he did.

ok,,,i promised you guys info on the horn situation.....so here it is. i sent the horn back. he emailed me and asked what it was that he was supposed to do with it. i reminded him that i had spoke with him a week earlier and that i wanted it refunded. vansautollc made good on the refund....i just didnt like his snippy , snooty, holier than thou attitude, and i will more than likely buy from him again. i need all new gauges and he has them all. in his defense, he might have been having a bad day and i caught the brunt of it , but he did make good on it and all is well in road runner land again! "and they all lived happily ever after" (BEEP-BEEP ! )
