Who has a take on this?

most of those cleanable filters have a higher micron filter (screen). you trade filtration capability for more flow and do it yourself cleaning. i guess it depends on what a person wants.

systems like that are used in aviation. if they can keep things in the air and not cause em to fall from the sky i would think its a good enough system for a car.

and if i remember right the aviation screens are down to the 20 micron size
not a bad idea in my opinion

$99 seems in line with other filters, because that one looks like a generic and/or chinese version. The two best known products are System 1 and PowerFilter. They are more like $100 to 200. Might be made in China anyway.

Do some research on those two. I seem to recall that they advertise 10 micron filter capacity. They do look cool on a motor. And if you race then it is a sound investment.

for 99 buxx you can buy14 fram filters and not have to clean it,,,,,just toss it in the garbage can. i dont see it as feeeeeeezibly economical.

X2. $100 buys alot of Wix filters. Do you have a problem with 10 micron particles? My re-builds run fine with Wix filters. I think using synthetic oil, and adding a rare-earth magnet in the oil pan will do much more for you. I place these magnets on my oilpan, near the drain. At the oil-change, I remove the magnet, and allow the draining oil to flush the debris out. Then I re-install it when I am done. Rare-earth magnets are much more powerful than any magnetic drain-plug I have ever seen.

I personally prefer the K&N oil filters, run them on all my cars never had a problem

In all my years with cars, I can say I NEVER had a problem with a filter. Some folks have, but I have never used a high-pressure pump either. Only high-volume. Other than lube, the point of oil is also to carry away heat, or act as a cooling fluid. So the greater volume of fluid will transfer heat greater.
