:sad:440 source poor quality products; my sad road started with the purchase of a 512 stroker in my r/t purchased all of there items ... htought i bought from a good company.. but you decide. the roller lifters came apart only 1/2 mile from final install. the button on the rail came of causing the lifters to rotate.. therefore destroying my new cam. after some discussion w/ 440 (kim) said why don't i just regrind my cam for @ 125.00 and they will give me my money back on the lifters. and split the diff. on the cam. 67.50
not counting the removal of the motor and going thru the motor to check for damage. not 100 miles later major problem. there alum. heads were found with one head has a crack in the cylinder. i" am sick of it i sure i will have to battle w/ them on this now. it have had my motor down 6 months due to buying there crap parts.. i will never rest as long as they don not back up there parts.

Sorry you've had issues, but your's is about the first complaint I've heard about their parts

I have one of their 512 kits including heads but with Harland Sharp rockers and have had no problem. Although one of my machinist cutomers purchased a set of heads and one cracked, they replaced it with no issue, the replacemnt also cracked and they refunded his money without issue.Hope thongs work out for you.

Sorry to hear about your missfortune...

But $299 roller lifters are an accident waiting to happen...IMHO

Sorry to hear, but sounds like they are willing to help out quite a bit. Most companies wouldve just said to bad, an wouldnt cover anything. Topend problems are hard to prove the product was defective. I had the same thing happen to one of my old fords, i pushed it to hard on cheap fuel, broke a dogbone, lifters, cam, dissy gear.. Good luck though..

First problem of that nature I have heard with 440 source parts. I have a 500 inch 12 to 1 motor going on year five with no problems. All the parts came from them. I do drive the car, not on a trailer. Hope you get the problem corrected soon.

It sounds to me like you are way ahead of yourself with this opened complaint on the Internet about a company that has already offered assistance and is willing to help.

Some people fail to understand that typically there is no warranty with high performance parts or labor, as the intent of these parts is to be driven well beyond the limits of NORMAL driving.

Regarding the cracked cylinder head, did you machine shop/installer do any QC checking of these parts prior to assembly? Any reputable shop checks these thing regardless of the manufacturer.

Blasting a manufacturer publicly at this point, prior to a resolution does not help you.

I have bought lots of parts from 440Source and did have a problem with a mini starter that they DID replace. Every manufacturer can have problems, it sounds like they are willing to work with you.

My builder said you get Chinese made stuff for the money and did not want to use them for that reason. I cannot say I disagree yet.

It is pretty much the same old sh-t everywhere. You get what you pay for. If you find a set of finished heads for 1800.00 and then you say you find the same heads for 800.00, guess what you you you are not getting the same parts and workmanship unless you were getting your head tore off the first time. 440 source has been good parts as far as my motor. I know alot of guys that have many different motors with parts from them and no issues. You can not buy the cheap part and expect it to be as good as the best one.

thanks for all of the input.. but i must attend to family my father passed away last week and will address this at a later date.. dodger/t

man what a run of bad luck. hope things turn around for you.

Sorry to hear about your Father.

I have heard alot of complaints about 440 Source's roller lifters.

Jason

Thanks for all of your best wishes about my father.. I do appreciate your wishes.. And some better news. The head from 440 source that was defective. Well they are going to replace it. I'am trying to remain hopeful that it will fix the issue for good. With my dad in bad shape during this ordeal.. I'am sure that stress did not allow me to remain totally objective. Thanks for everyone's input. I will update you soon.

On another bit of good news... Just picked up a 70 cuda (clone) 340 6 bbl 4speed. Triple black.. Very nicely done ..later dodger/t and now plymouthman

After you started this thread, ive found about 3 others that had the same problem with the lifters.. Good thing your getting it straightened out.. Sorry to hear about your pops.

I got bad parts too.!!!

440 source thinks they are all that thay all have bad attiude i bought a water pump and housing and it was junk i will never buy from them again period. and there are other lots that have got junk from them look at racingjunk.com sorry man for all you are goint thru been there they did nothing for me saying it was my fault well other good mopar site have got my money now it them where it counts in there wallet all mopar people need to call and let them know do right or lose all or business.

Most companies wouldve just said to bad, an wouldnt cover anything.

I have to say as long as I have been building Mopars, I have never had a problem with 440 source, they even come recommended by Horsepower TV, they have a special kit to take a 400 motor and stroke it with a 440 crank kit and custom bearings, did it to my 1972 Roadrunner which now has 28000 trouble free miles on it, really should work on the negative bashing, are not enough US company's trying to make it work for us gear heads out there. Good luck with your project. DT
