Keisler mistake

I do not mean to jump to conclusions here. I have read the posts and remember what was being posted earlier. My point here is yes, you are a happy customer, but it sounds like your car works well with their product, and it appears they have an agenda in keeping you happy if you are showing off their product. What about Gary, Rolling Thunder and any other customer that isn't happy with Keisler. I see a pattern developing here that reflects the responsibility of error to the customer. God forbid if something goes wrong, the company and company tech's should work diligently to correct the issue. As a consumer, you have little to no chance against a stubborn company that is not willing to correct any issues the customer might have, unless legal action is taken. If any company thinks a consumer wants to go through something like this, they are nuts! Having gone through something similar to this (my ordeal was worth $17,000), I probably would have done the same thing Gary has done.

My beef here is accountability. There is none, instead it's the jackass customer's fault!! That is wrong!!!

Accountability?
I did install on a El Camino. The customer had a complaint about a vibration at a speed I don't usually test drive a car at. Long story short, I made a new driveshaft for it locally, thinking the supplied one was off. Had it shipped to the local rear end shop that the customer took it to instead of bringing it back to me. It still had the problem, which turned out to be the adjustable rear control arms which had the pinion angle off. They weren't in the car when the trans was swapped. Nor was the interior, which his interior guy hammered the tunnel down onto the trans so the console would fit tighter.

I still get badmouthed by that guy. It happens. BUT, Keisler reimbursed me for that second driveshaft with out having to bully them into it.

Another customer bought a restomod Roadrunner ragtop with a 5 speed/hydralic clutch combo already in it. (He bought it done) The clutch was fried because the T/O wasn't set up properly. After pulling the unit out, I called Keisler tech up. We discussed the problems, did the measurements, determined a spacer change which they sent out, no charge. The unit has been working fine for almost two years now.

But, that's just my steak sauce for your beef, Brian.

Every vendor has an "agenda" to keep customers happy, and to make unhappy customers into happy ones. Keisler doesn't pay me or treat me special to say nice things about them any more than Mopar does to say nice things about my Road Runner. I've been in customer service positions and know that happy customers pretty much don't say anything but unhappy customers broadcast it to everybody they can. However, some customers just can't be satisfied within reason.

We once refunded a guy his entire bill because he couldn't be satisfied. (Had to do with a full race motor with cheap chinese heads not wanting to Caddy idle with the A/C on). The refund included everything we did, not just his driveability problem which was exceptionally better than when the car came in. I still catch wind of him MF'ing us.

Rev, Greg, I appreciate your comments about this company, I do. However; no matter what is said, I have read the posts from Gene bad-mouthing and calling out HIS customers... I will not do business with this company for that exact reason. No matter who is at fault, no matter what the issues or problems are, THERE IS NEVER A GOOD REASON TO BAD-MOUTH OR INSULT A CUSTOMER ON A PUBLIC FORUM!!!!

In this case, had the salesman chose to take the high road and explain IN PUBLIC, that there is a problem that they are working to resolve with the customer and not call-out every "dumb-***" customer he is having trouble with, it would have carried a lot more weight, with me anyway...

Trust me, I'm a nobody, but I am a nobody not doing business with this company, and believe me, I have referred a couple of friends to this forum about what is being posted. There is no excuse for calling out PAYING customers...

Let's put ourselves in Gary's shoes. There is a breakdown in communication, and you feel very strongly that you are being "pushed" around by this company, and not getting what you believed you paid for, what would you do? I put myself in the company's shoes, I would have offered his money back for a complete refund (which I believed they did do) and moved on.

It's easier moving on as the company. But as a consumer, I don't know about any of you, but I don't have much money, especially to "donate" to companies, large or small.

And finally, I know every customer isn't the same. I know some are much more demanding than others, but that is the price of doing business. Treat all the customers as if they ARE the same. If you are going to claim great customer service, then don't bitch about customers asking for it!

All that said, this is a debate, no offense intended to anyone reading this post. I will agree to disagree, agreeably.

Wow I've been looking around for a manual Trans for my 70 Charger and I would really like a 5 speed, so I requested a quote from Keisler only a few days ago and it came back at a mere $5373.45. When I saw the quote my initial thought was "uh no" but I was still considering somthing, but after reading all this I've come to the conclusion that I'll just pick up an A833 on the second hand and call it a day. I then replied to the email from keisler with a "No Thanks"

That being said, STIG, check this link that was posted over on FABO with a topic along these lines

That's a wicked looking trans. Did they say it's a direct replacement for an Mopar 4 speed?

Put yourself in their shoes. Companies that give a complete refund to everybody who asks for whatever reason will soon have no money to refund.

Just checked out FABO, and there is a thread about Passon od vs. Keisler 5sp., not alot of happy guys---must read to make your own conclusions. Just thought I would share this incase someone needed more info.

With all fairness here in the aftermarket world bolt in does not always mean. Direct fit allot of novice car guys think its a bolt in thing what could be the problem? We all know there is no such thing as bolt in everything needs some kinda love but that is the aftermarket world these guys that built these old mopars then didn't care heck these. Cars were borderline at best with that said there are different tolerances between cars. Instead of anyone here bashing each other and saying I would never buy anything from a certain vender we should all embrance each other because in the end we all need each others help in some fashion. Adopt the moto just help a fellow gear head along unless he's a real dick. Put down your guns gentlemen . Spread the love

Gentleman,

Wow lots of typing over the weekend.... Here is the bottom line on the OP.

Gary strong armed us into getting a free driveshaft. Gary didn't listen to me when I told him the kit we had on sale was less inclusive. Gary didn't listen to me when I said it wasn't a direct bolt in. He heard what he wanted to hear period.

Why should Keisler or any other vendor for that matter take abuse or have to kiss *** when a customer is wrong. I know I know you should never call a customer out. However in this particular case we have had it. We tried to be quiet about it and we gave in to the bulling. You see where that got us.

Alex,

I am glad you have had some positive experiences and I am glad you posted that. I will refrain from posting anything about the issues you had while at Icon.

Basically here it is call me what you will think what you will...

I am not going to stand by and let our company get trashed on any forum when it is not warranted.

Customers do make mistakes and they are not always right.

Anyone of you that owns a business knows that.

I invite anyone of you to come visit and see what we are all about.

I know most of you don't like what I say or think I am wrong. I guarantee most of you in some form or fashion have been in my shoes and you wish you could say what I say on here or in real life. I live for the moment I let you know exactly where you stand with me. Even if the truth hurts and if often does.

I love my job it is fun and exiting I get to me a bunch of cool people I now call my friends. You ask is this getting personal your Damn right it is.

This is how I provide for my family and its what I get up for every day.

I have tons of happy customers who praise us. Unfortunately we have some who don't. I dare anyone to find a company who doesn't have any unhappy customers.

OK, I am now going to step off the soap box and get to work. I have transmissions to sell.

Your multi-million dollar company is getting bullied by 1 customer who is an individual probably not having a whole lot of money... "Gary strong armed you, Gary didn't listen, Gary heard what he wanted."

Thanks Gene, you made my point, no accountability, no responsibility assumed. I'm not getting personal, but like YOU said, sometimes the truth hurts!

Good luck in the future, with your attitude, the company might need it.

Thanks for the lesson, I'm moving on...

I'm digging you brother. Time to work together or all of our cars will be built in Canada.
Oh, damn.
