Ok now if you cringe and convulse seeing a radical exciting frankenstein attempt at updating an old B body roadrunner with the suspension / engine and interior of a new gen charger (2006) then stop reading now and do not follow this thread. If you want to see a death defying attempt at making an ultimate daily driver then follow me and we will see if this is possible. some unibody cutting will happen, those of you with weak hearts please do not enter this ride.
 
We will be attempting to marry a charger donor with a road runner..

The difference with this project and others will be the fact that an attempt will be made to cut out the well well aprons of the charger and remove the entire suspension along with the engine and all the engine parts. The same thing will happen to the rear suspension. All the wiring will be moved including the door locks, airbag sensors, abs brakes door locks, ect. If this works the car will be as modern as possible.

I will provide photos and comments in detail as we proceed. SRT8 charger will be cut first and jigged front and back. Then the road runner will be taken down to chassis. Then the final step before making any permanent cutting of the RR will be to see how it lines up on the jig setup. The mechanic took preliminary measurements of all points all all look promising.
 
The mechanic is a master tech with 20+ years experience working on dodges. He is a tripple threat with good welding and electronic experience. He feels very confident that this can be done without to much special modification. I on the other hand am a bit more skeptical. But I have seen his work and am impressed which is rare for me.
 
The whole interior will be moved also. Front seats, rear, console and dash. I had a 69 GTX that was restored to stock. Been there done that. It was fun to restore but I hated driving it. No modern conveniences, I need bluetooth and sat radio now lol.
 
Very nice! that's what I'm talking about. Looks like it was done to this charger. I'm not sure how far they went with the electrical. We are trying to go all the way.

They went all the way, saw a write up in MCG and the car has all the late model features. It is done right! I believe the builder has posted on here before.

What's up with the exhaust hanging so low. Looks a little weird to me. I'll stick with the old school and old school.
 
Those Charger interiors were one of the BEST ever and the Rally Dash Tic-Toc-Tac was the BEST ..I can see the Hemi, but nothing else..Rick
 
For those of you hating the idea of a RR being cut, I understand. At first I wasn't going to, but If it's going to be done I'd like to go all the way.Also we looked at several different options. This was the most economical way of making sure it will be correct. And the history of this car is that it had no title and it was salvaged out of a junk yard 30 years ago. When I bought it from current owner, it was sold as a "no title" car and had not been on a road in 30 years. I was lucky enough to get some old registrations from the 70's with it and I was able to (over time) track down the original owner and get him to sign a bill of sale. It is now titled and would have never been more than scrap parts anyway. So in a way, I see this as a rebirth into something better.
